52 Week Colour Challenge, Champagne

Champagne....such a gorgeous colour.

To begin this years challenge I have chosen one of Nicky Ree's most beautiful, classic gowns..The Lady Aurora Gown, with the svelte skirt. The texturing is divine, the lace so delicate yet heavy. The design makes this gown suitable for any occasion, from wedding to medieval ball.

The location was built and shown to me by a friend, who I don't see enough. The stunning tower has to be seen to appreciate it properly. Raven, thank you! So here are the details:

Sam Goes Shopping... learns to read

This is a tale of two very chic stores. MiaMai & Baiastice and one clueless avi who doesn't read carefully! I looked at the new MiaMai Black Label designs. Totally awesome, but wasn't sure what would suit. Then I saw the Chod collection and immediately bought what I thought was a nice strapless dress. WRONG! It was the Dakini Rosed pants! Hence the first shot. They're amazing pants, but left me a little bare...

So I thought.. why not match the tops from 2 of the new and lovely Baiastice dresses. First up is the Liksye dress in rose, which was a very subtle match I thought. Jewelry is the paper couture Riverstone set.
Then I thought well the black texture and white sparkles of the Baiastice Zoey in red might make a nice foil for the MiaMai Dakini pants in Rose. Earrings are paper couture Faceted Black Diamond Arrangement. The little cuff on the neckline precluded wearing a necklace. On the right is the Zoey dress on her own worn with Pixel Mode Baby T's in black.

Then, having shown the BaiasticeLiksye dress with the Dakini pants I felt it deserved to be shown on it's own. It comes with the back draped necklace. My earring are Muse Elle Orchid [NA]. Shoes are again Pixel Mode Baby T's in berry.

My skin in all shots is Liane Natural from Adam n Eve [R] with part of sachi's Christmas pressie to me, maples lips. [R] Hair is elikatira Breathe in Blonde 02.

Mulberry...pretty colour, but still pink and still not me.

I do have it in my inventory and when I rediscovered Phoenix Risings Oda Blouse I knew it was what I wanted to blog. A pretty ruffle, 'v' necked blouse with rolled up sleeves. Beautifully crafted.

I immediately thought office and went for Maitreyas high waisted pencil skirt. To match this I knew I had to wear SLinks seriously delicious Sydney Stilettos.

52 Week Colour Challenge, Wenge

Wenge...never heard of it. However, having had it explained to me I do have some items of that colour.

I chose Sn@tch Athena top. I love the babydoll aspect of it and the floaty openess of it. A really lovely item of clothing. Plus sexy as Hell...lol

So, thinking sexy I thought of hotpants. Initially I wanted high waisted black hotpants to set off the top. Then, having tried several options from my inventory I settled on Vogues silver, sequined hotpants. All glittery and hot.

Of course, the next logical step was to sport Slinks mesh thigh high boots.

For once I changed my skin, I chose one of Glam Affairs Castalia skins. The make up is heavy and smokey...a sultry look but still fresh looking. To top it all off I wanted a hairstyle with a heavy fringe, so I can shoot smouldering looks from under it, and [e] lasting hair fitted the bill.

I can't believe that I have done 52 posts in Luna's challenge,. Not always on time mind you, but I did it! Thanks again ms luna :)

While I've done inventory diving for most of the posts, for the last one the right dress fell into my pixel paws thanks to Anessa Stine of DCNY. It is her new Mesh Knit Dress in Harvest. [R] I'm still not a fan of mesh as it makes my shape "not sam", but it is nice to not have the mini-skirt flap. I also like the way the sleeves can be longer without looking icky. But more on mesh another time.

This proved to be another challenge but eventually i did find PIDIDDLE's one-piece beachware. A pretty off the shoulder number with a cut out torso on one side. Detailing includes a horizontal stripe and pretty buttons.

Thanks again to Luna Jubilee for the 52 week color challenge. It's been quite a ride! I've taken the tack of combing my inventory for items to wear, and in the case of MULBERRY, I waxed nostalgic...

I'm wearing Claire in Raspberry [NA] from Mischief, Janie Marlowe's well-know and love brand before she rebranded as just Janie. I bought it to wear to my art opening at Tricia Aferdita's gallery in the long gone Cetus Art District. It still wears well! The skin is a memory lane visit also--*blowpop* Elizabeth tone2 in Mulberry Wine, still available. The hair is from RubisoHo in wine and is called Duri. The store still exists. Shoes are new, from Pixel Mode, the Lady T's, a kind gift from Jori Watler.

Lot'sa goodies at the current Collaboration88, including some lovely hair from Clawtooth, elikatira and Lamb that I'm not wearing. What I *am* wearing is Kyoot's Antiqued Autumn Dress in Orange, R2 Kapua shoes in Orange and the Tres Blah C88 Dewy Skin in Light. The detailing on the dress is really beautiful. The eyes are by Fleur de Male--more fantasy than I usually wear, but quite subtle. They come in 3 sizes so are unisex, despite the store name.

I had a WENGE outfit all lined up, then got sidetracked by inspecting a dress at a FLF stop and it led me to Carrie Snowpaw's store. I first ran into her work in the early days of InWorldz, but hadn't really sought her out in SL. This honey of a dress was on sale so I snapped it up. Then I realized well, it was Wenge-ish. Let me explain. Wenge is the name of a blackish & brownish African wood. Black -- check, brown --check, and the underlying pattern is a bit tigerish... so here we are!

This outfit started with the new Tres Blah Relaxed Kimono in "Hatched," one of the newest goodies from the nimble pixels of Juliette Westerberg. After a bit of fitting, the draped sections worked wonderfully. And the flower pattern on the "hatched" background is very Japanese.

To show off the lovely pattern and drape of "Hatched" I headed for some favorites of mine: the soft scoop tank in Midnight from DCNY [R], the Laila pants in Navy from MichaMi [R] and the old ETD Heel Strap Platforms in Navy [NA]. Jewels are the Prato set from MOOD. Hair is Ana in Copper from Truth and my skin is the new Adam n Eve Adriane in Natural Lemongrass. Poses are from /GEEZ/[R].

52 MOSS GREEN

For me MOSS GREEN is yellower and darker than Luna's color example, so I went with that.

An inventory search revealed the Off-Shoulder Chiffon top in flowers/moss green from G Field. [a past group gift] and the leggings from MichaMi's Ida dress [marketplace only]. Hair is Fastball from Exile in Pyre. Skin is sachi's new Ariadne in Lemongrass Natural. Shoes were a desperate inventory grab and I'm not happy with them. [Stiletto Moody/Elegant Slingback in Rosegold]. Otherwise I'm liking the look.

OK, so I haven’t been too impressed by mesh clothing items so far. Mainly because I like my shape and hate adjusting it for anything. Can you imagine how many shapes you are going to need if you have a variety of mesh items? Either that or you spend time every clothes change adjusting your shape. No thanks, not for me at the moment.

So, I can hear you ask, why am I blogging a mesh item? Well, when I finally got round to visiting Slink again and saw their new mesh Tall Leather Thigh Boots I just had to try the demo. On trying the boots on and settling on curvy fit (me, curvy? Omg!) I then returned and purchased the silver ones. They were just a 'must have'. The textures are brilliant, the choice of tall or taller boots divine and the no losing bits of leg when crossing legs a joy, care of mesh.

To show off these sex on heels I chose Nyte'N'Day Stringy Bikini. It has quite a retro feel to it that just matched the boots perfectly, with a 3 strings theme on both bikini bits.

Then I decided that I was too pale to show off both these gorgeous pieces at their best, so I swapped my skin for one of PXL’s Efe skins.

The hair I knew straight away was going to be *X*plosion Hair*s Kayli as the headband allows both colour and shininess changes. So white on high shine became silver.

Then I added [glow]’s NoRound Earrings from a past TDR.

I did walk around inworld a little like this; it felt amazing like I was another avatar. It was great fun.

Khaki…it’s not green and it’s not brown. I love this colour but could I find anything of it in my inventory…well, not actual khaki itself but items named khaki…might as well go with the flow.

*COCO*s Tank Top in khaki is actually a favourite of mine so was a surprise to find it labelled as khaki. Anyway, a simple system vest that’s a classic design.

I teamed it with *COCO*s open denim jeans and Slinks bare feet for that casual chilled look.

The hair and the pose came as one in 69’s Model Hair 01.

WOOT! I'm actually posting this in the right week. *waits for everyone to pass out*

A search for Khaki didn't reveal much, but eventually I settled on the Chifone dress in Khaki, a gift from oyakin. I have to say that I am enamoured of the fluffy skirt. The "jools" are new, from Dark Mouse. They are called Dreaming of Camelot and the stones are colour-change. This "colour" is some sort of pale green that works well.

Hair is from elikatira, Details in White 05. And I am still wearing Liane from Adam n Eve with the Pinkade eyeshadow.

Purdy Flowers

I don’t often buy or wear tattoos. However, when I saw Pekkas Blossom Passion tattoo I knew I had to have it.

It trails along ones torso in a fall of flowers. In this shot I am showing the coloured version but it also comes in good old fashioned plain ink. The blossoms start just below the bustline, cupping the left breast, then trail down ones side, over the hip and down the thigh. A pretty loose petal falls away from the main branch midway down ones torso. Just too pretty not to have.

There is one major personal dislike though…what is with the ugly characters that sit just in the centre of the collarbone? Are they a signature? A logo? Why not tuck into the tattoo so it doesn’t ruin the wearing of it? Unless I get a skin patch to cover this character intrusion then I probably won’t be wearing this tattoo out and about…shame really.

Arrrgh...behind again:) Fire Brick took a bit of a search, but Brick Red fell into my lap thanks to the new Paper couture collection.

FIRE BRICK started with the top of the Lune Chic Sweater Dress from MG Fashion in brick and continued with MichaMi's cropped and slouchy pants in black [R] and Naith Smit's Rock'n'Rolla Uggs [NA] Other items are elikatira Details in White 03 and sachi's beautiful Liane Natural with Pinkade eyeshadow from Adam n Eve [R] Picture was taken at the wonderful Mother Road sim.

Nicky Rees latest release, the DNR Ingrid Collection, contains stunning dresses. Above I am wearing the DNR Satin Lace Gown V2 in white. A simple, lace covered tulip corset sits atop a svelte skirt with train that has a lace over skirt. Gloves are included with this gown. Beautiful in both design and textures I think this is a must for any formal wardrobe.

Not shown is the DNR Ingrid Bridal Lace Gown V1 which is of the same material but with small differences in design. The corset top for this dress has a lace over top that elegantly clads the shoulders and arms in delicate lace. Firebrick…lovely colour but tricky.

I finally settled on the complete outfit from Sparkle Skye Designs. The Harvest Fae has just the right colour in the skirt for this challenge. A stunning gown with flowers on chest and waist plus a full ball gown skirt makes for a wonderful formal if nothing else. The head wreath, cuffs, wand and fantastic wings are like icing on the cake…making this intoa beautiful gown for any Autumn Fae.

Late again:( So here are both JAZZBERRY and CHARTREUSE.

For Jazzberry the centerpiece are the Thread Leaf Wings from Seven's Selection in Magenta. Other clothing items are the corset from Ivalde's stephani dress also in Magenta [R] and the Sunny Leggings in Magenta from Prelude. [NA-I think]. Hair is Exile's Glory in Cayenne/Roots. Skin is Liane-Natural with Pinkade Eyeshadow from Adam n Eve.

The only two items in my inventory labeled as "chartreuse" are these two. The dress in an old one from Celestial Studios, the Phoenix Sweater Dress. [NA] I remember IMing Starley and thanking her for the system skirt. The belt has been a useful one for me. The lace-trimmedcami and leggings came with the dress. The shoes are from Ingenue called Tallula. Skin is PXL Creations' Gaia with copper lips. Hair is, again, Exile's Glory in Cayenne/Roots.

Again I knew what I wanted to blog for this colour. Another oldie…{Gisaci}Little Mary dress is not the most fashionable of dresses but does have the artsy twist to it. A tight, sleeveless bodice sits atop a short ‘A’ line skirt. This dress creeps out of my inventory every so often.

Chartreuse…such a pretty colour.

I definitely knew what I wanted to show you all for this colour…and again it’s an oldie. In fact it is one of my oldest cocktail dresses I own and I have almost forgotten who designed it. Shyone and Dulce were the forerunner to Dulce I believe. This very pretty, flighty dress has seen a few events in its time. The deep ‘V’ neckline system top sits above a pretty flouncy skirt of net, with a pretty net flower at the waistband. I adore this dress and, although time is showing on it a little bit, I still think it can hold its own.

Long time no blog…rl work to blame.

I have been meaning to blog this outfit for a while, for 2 reasons. 1, I loved it the first time I saw it on the fashion feed and 2, the excellent customer service I received.

As usual, with a ‘must have’ moment. I dropped straight into MEILING Couture to find the Sea Foam outfit. I did look around before purchasing and liked what I saw but decided only to purchase that which I had come for. The Sea Foam consists of a flouncy white long skirt topped with a frilly neck lined, vibrant green, backless blouse. It has a ‘hippy chick’ feel to it but also quite and elegant feel to it. Anyway, did the obvious and shot it in water…lol.

Now, when purchasing this outfit I realised, after unpacking it, that the wrong gown was inside. I immediately contacted Meiling Couturier to let her know that the contents of the vendor were amiss and wasn’t expecting such a prompt response. Within an hour or so she had dropped me the right gown with an apology, a thank you and a ‘please keep and enjoy both gowns’. That’s what I call great customer service…Thank you Meiling.

So, there you have it…a lovely Summer gown fit for a beach party or shopping during the day.

I've been assuming is is Royal Purple so what better than a beautiful kimono made for RFL of SL 2010? It's the "*(ichigo-ya)* RFL_SP_KIMONO from *:Sweet Strawberry:*. It comes with the appropriate shoes and socks as well as the prettiest obi I've seen in SL. Their kimonos are reasonably priced, including several for L$1 and a gorgeous pink one for Tsunami Relief at $300. I'm wearing Tiny Bird's Nantes hair in Copper, Adam n Eve's Astrelle Fae skin in Violet and poses by [LAP].

This is all in honor of my impending fall trip to Japan. It's #1 on my bucket list and I can't wait!

Patriarch…huh? Another colour I have never heard of.

I thought long and hard about this one and finally settled on one of Nicky Ree’s beautiful swimsuits/ dress. The *DNR* Tara Sarong Swim Suit & Dress in purple are a great versatile set of clothes for the summer. At it’s barest it is a classic swimsuit with the addition of the sarong…both pieces wonderfully textured and designed. At it’s fullest it is a pretty summer dress ideal for any daytime occasion.

I chose the usual PXL skin and Miriel eyes, plus fri.day hair and Slink shoes. I also added a new purchase from the Dressing Room…glow’s Dark Lun necklace…perfect.

With 12 new avatars in our library being a noob just got better. Best part is that many are by Adam n Eve. Now Bollywood on the left isn't new, but she's so elegant I couldn't resist. I'm wearing my own shape, but it really makes me look exotic and "un-sam-like" I think. Don't miss Damen's earrings--they are gorgeous. The other three are new and are very wearable. I particularly like the skin with hairbase and hair for the female dancer. Unfortunately for other use it comes with the clothes on the skin so you have to work around that on a re-wear. Which I did below.

I wore the jacket from the Pirate avatar over the leotard . Albero Gacha items are the fri.day feather.earrings in pink and 2 of the Alpha Villian's glasses. The Transparent SinnerMan's work better than the Cat-Eye Glasses (Pink) because *erm* they are alpha prims. sachi Vixen and Milla Michinaga are not only two of my dearest friends in SL, but both are very gifted content creators. And both of them know that I wouldn't blog their work if I didn't like it. So you can infer that I LIKE:) Very much.

On the left is sachi's newest fantasy dress. It has gorgeous textures and beautifully done sculpted parts. With it I am wearing jewelry from one of my favorite fantasy stores, Tekili-li. It's the Louhi set. I suppose I could look fiercer, but it's just not me.

MichaMi's Brocade Belle Dress [R] in Gold comes with two skirts, resizable either manually or with a script, but it just popped on and stayed there :) The textures are lovely, especially the lacework at the top of the bodice. The Madame Royale set in Cognac from MOOD completed the look.

Lemon Art Fest

OR 52 Week Colour Challenge, Lemon.

Lemon...I admit to having exactly zero of this colour in my inventory...the remedy? go shopping...where? Artilleri.

Hence my title this blog...Art = Artilleri...and well, yes, a feast of creations from there.

I'll start with the swimsuit, the Sabrina Swimsuit. A honey of a costume with a tear shaped cut out just below ones bust line. The leg line is what is called ‘boy style’ these days and gives the costume a very 1950’s feel to it. I love it a lot even in yellow…lol.

To continue the retro feel I used Artilleri’s Trixie hair and Greta glasses, both of which I already had stashed away.

I also wore a PXL skin, with a Fishy Strawberry lip gloss, Miriel eyes and chose to wear Slinks bare feet.

I shot at the beach just in front of the Artilleri store as I adore what has been done there.

So, there you have it…from nothing to a look I kept on for quite a while, even shopping…lol.

52 Week Colour, Celadon

Celadon…never heard of it but that doesn’t mean I don’t have anything of that colour.

After a little search and try on session I came across Last Call’s Anytime dress. A pretty geometric patterned mini dress with a great ‘swishy’ skirt. But, wait! This dress must be ancient…Last Call does not exist anymore. Indeed, although it looks as fresh as any of today’s designs, it is a dress made before windlight, before sculptys, before any of the fancy add ons we have had in the past couple of years. This is truly a classic dress that has stood the test of second life time.

I chose elikatira’s hair and N-Core shoes to go with the dress. The rest are my usual suspects listed below.

I am such a sucker for formal dresses especially if they are white and made of lace.

Azul recently released the Dailey gown. A truly stunning, fishtailed gown. A tulip styled top of asymmetric design coats the torso in lace and continues down to the slinky skirt that ends in a full fishtail of lace. The lace enables your flesh tone to peek through the dress making this gown both classy and sexy all in one.

A new, to me, and recent release hairstyle from Plume suited the elegance of the gown. It even has ‘pins’ in the back holding up the hair which are texture change and removeable.

The usual suspects make up the rest of the look.

Short blog but I am busy in the real world at the moment. Hopefully it’ll get better and I will have more time.

52 Week Colour Challenge, Electric Blue

Electric Blue …Blue being one of my all time fav colours.

However, electric blue obviously isn’t as I had real problems finding something in my inventory that would satisfy this week’s challenge. Eventually I struck blue with cheLLe – eye shadow and Curious Collections eyes. The makeup is for that edgy look one might feel like putting together sometime and the eyes are just so pretty with heart pupils.

I’ll let the shot talk as at the moment as I am barely inworld due to a new rl job. This in turn means I am late again with the challenge ( I did shoot it last weekend but didn’t have time or energy to post in the week) and my blogging is suffering. I think this will continue until I settle into a work routine and hopefully get time to drop inworld during the week. Here’s hoping…lol

I first met Geryn Sloane of GS Couture at The 2010 Clothing Fair, where I made her give me the dress off her back! Thus I am VERY pleased to be blogging one of her dresses from IFW10. It's called Chocolate Covered Cherry and, aside from making me hungry, I love its retro look and use of the system skirt. Jewelry was hard to find, but I chose Luc's Butterfly Frolic to tie together the Sea makeup [again PXL's Candy]. 52 Week Colour Challenge, Mahogany

Mahogany…such a beautiful colour.

After trying on several outfits I decided on Azul’s Laetitia in topaz. A high waisted (finishes just below the bustline), svelte skirt sits below a bolero, capped sleeved jacket that covers ones modesty. Gold sequins highlight the flesh exposed by the skirt and lends extra richness to this already decadent coloured dress.

I thought of mahogany hair and came up with Truth’s Midori, a classic updo to match the dress perfectly.

Shoes were a little more difficult but the recent purchase of Slinks’ Lulu stilettos seemed to solve the shoe crisis.

Again I've mined my backlog "closet" for Mahogany. The centerpiece is the Larin Skirt from Zaara in one of the art prints. The top is from Ivalde. I like the way the lace edging complements the uneven edge of the skirt. Maitreya's Uma hair in Copper blends nicely to the theme.

The shoes are Lady T's from Pixel Mode, a generous gift from the Lady T herself, Jori Watler. I'm wearing Laurel, one of sachi Vixen's recent skins from Adam n Eve in Spice Natural.

52 Week Colour Challenge, Jade

Jade…a tricky colour as I have plenty of greens but few of this shade.

In the end I went a bit fairy as I chose Nicky Rees Divona dress. Now, although the beautifully made skirt isn’t the right shade, I did feel that the corset was. So I went with it. A pretty strappy backed top sits atop a net tutu…made me go all fantasy.

To continue the theme I added Seven Selections Ragged Fairy Wings in Emerald (close enough to the colour swatch this week) and Ohami Pury in Pistachio, as it sort of matched the wings.

I chose a Frick skin for that other worldly look and I went barefoot with SLink feet.

Am I feeling Aright??

Todays post is all about pink and flowers, obviously I am not in my right mind as I love this look…lol.

When Aleida had a limited release of a pink cocktail dress with a flowered skirt my attention was gotten. A corset top with a soft, frill bust line sits on top of a skirt entirely made out of roses. A lovely design well executed. It’s so pretty.

To match I went and bought the hot shoes of the moment, Mstyle Rivea pumps. Open toed and covered in roses. I love these shoes, a perfect match.

The usual are listed below as I think I need to go lie down from all this pink floweriness.

Choose the shoes

This is a shoe post. You've been warned. After reading it you may feel the urge to spend indecent amounts of L$$ on new shoes. I guess that's fair warning.

As I said in a previous post not too long ago, despite my infrequent activity in SL™ I still managed to take a tour of the Shoe Fair 2011 - not only that, but I also made a few purchases, which you can see in this picture:

Am I happy with the results? Well, it varies. At first I wondered why some spend 975L on a single pair of shoes being able to get nice stuff for half the price, but I found the answer myself.

On the upper right corner are the Naucci Heels from [Decoy], priced at a reasonable 475L. These are a nice pair of sandals; however, not to be chosen if you're in a hurry. It took me a while to do the tinting seen above, and if you zoom into the picture, you'll be able to see that I didn't *quite* get the exact shade. Call me a perfectionist, but I appreciate having RGB bars in order to do some fine-tuning. The preset tones are approximate, but not exact, and there's no notecard with instructions to help out a bit.

Second, lower right, are the Maxine Wedges by Baiastice. At first I had bought the regular sandals, but upon realising that the wedge version was the charity item at the store, I decided to get both - for 590L each pair. I have to say those have been my biggest disappointment. It took me forever to do some relatively decent tinting, and one can easily see from the picture above that I did a poor job. Anyway, once you're done, you can't save it for future use - for that matter, you don't have a set of values to write down, either. Besides, despite all the nail polish options that are included, I had a hard time finding one that I liked. The package includes a notecard, but I didn't find it very useful - it gives a long-winded explanation on how to use the resize scripts, while IMHO those are self-explanatory. Not a word, though, about how to brave with the giant coloured box.

Next, on the lower left hand side, are the really popular Soleil sold at N-Core. At first I had my doubts, as 795L seemed quite steep for a pair of shoes, but then I bought them and found out all the options that they offer. In the single-colour package, as the name indicates, you buy just one version of the shoe - but you still have the possibility of changing the colour of the straps, the heel, the metal bits, etc. This is all done via a rather spiffy HUD, which is divided into 3 tabs: skin (shown above, where you can tint both skin and nails), stocking (where you can choose to wear those and also select their pattern and colour) and options (where you control all the tintable parts, plus sound, alpha, size, position and the standing animation). In case that's not enough, the notecard included in the package has pretty exhaustive instructions, as well as a significant list of RGB skin presets - where I could find my target skin tone, Belleza's Erika in Fair. All in all, it took me a few seconds to tint the skin - after I was done reading the instructions on the notecard, that is.

Finally, on the upper left corner are Maitreya Gold's Foxy - the most expensive pair in the whole lot, costing the sizable sum of 975L, but also my favourites. In my 4+ years around the grid I've never hidden the fact that I'm a Maitreya junkie, but in this case I also think their prim feet are some of the best made ones around. On the more practical side, the package comes with detailed instructions, an easy-to-use HUD and a notecard with the values of quite a lot of skins - some of which I had never really heard of. Erika wasn't on the list, but it didn't take me long to get it right nevertheless (I used the values of another Belleza Fair skin and it worked nicely). When I got ready to take the pictures I noticed that studio lights blew up the skintone, but it was just as easy as clicking one of the given presets and it was a match, so WIN.

So what's the conclusion of all this? Like with everything, it's mostly a matter of personal taste - in my case, I would rather spend a bit more and go for something practical. Perhaps there is not much of a difference between the shoes as such, but maybe the couple hundred more you're spending are due to the fact that someone put a lot of thought into developing a truly usable HUD. Or took ages checking and compiling the settings for all existing skins. That, for me, is priceless.

52 Week Colour Challenge, Denim

Denim…interesting.

I have a few items of denim, mainly jeans, but not many. The exception to jeans that I’d like to show you is Garage’s denim mini skirt. It’s a sculpty skirt, adjustable, that has a front fastening that lies open. The system undies provide cotton panties, sexy in a grungy kind of way, and the pants layer provides the basis for the skirt. The textures are outstanding and the craftsmanship superb. A well worthy piece to have in ones inventory for those sexy biker moments.

Two for Tuesday

Often I find myself ending up with two related outfits when I go hunting for what goes with what. I started out looking for white pants to go with Whippet & Buck's Claven top in Aubergine. Ended up in pants for the second shot, but stopped at the LeeZu Berlin skirt in White for the first. My reason for aubergine/white was the beautiful new hair flower and earrings, with gorgeous pearls from MOOD. I am also wearing Maitreya Gold Shanti shoes in Eggplant and elikatira's Details in White 05. Skin is PXL Creations Gaia in Natural and poses are by [LAP].

Then I found the House of Heart necklace [NA] that went with the aubergine, but didn't show up enough. So I combine 2 layers of the Claven top, Antique and Rose. Skin is again Gaia, hair is When the Seas Met in Blinding from Clawtooth. Pants are from Ingenue, Leslie in Tiffany and the shoes are from one 11, The Wanderer [NA] also from Ingenue. BOOM Bloom

Ok, so I jumped on the Bloom Doll bandwagon. Even worse is that I am so slow at blogging it…lol.

After wearing my new Bloom Doll, by Sand Shack Surf Co., I suddenly realised I had the perfect outfit waiting for me to blog ( and yes, this too is late). Aranel Ah dropped me a bloggers pack which I decided to wear with this new purchase. The pack consisted of ‘A Day on a Yacht’ sailor dress, Deck shoes, a Sailor cap and a Lynx Skinny Belt. OMG so cute!! Everything is well made with excellent textures. The design is just perfect.

The only thing left was the hair and, although no longer available, I knew that one of the ETD hairs tweaked would be ideal.

So…there you have it…a BOOM Bloom!

Ruby…hmmm. Lots of reds in my inventory but few that match this weeks challenge.

I eventually decided on an older piece by Uncle Wriggly. The colour of this system dress is predominately ‘ruby’ with green highlights. I still love these dresses and any excuse to wear them is fine by me.

I decided to have a bit of fun and used a freebie prop and pose I had picked up at a fair some time ago, xari’s pose and balloon are great to work with. The balloon is full modify so can be tinted or resized accordingly.

High-tech honey!

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post again. The good news is I finally got myself a new computer. The bad news, I can't take pictures with shadows on Phoenix - the result after trying is just a blank, or rather black, image. Tough luck. Maybe one day I'll have the patience to try the V2 viewer.

In the last few months, I've started a major inventory cleanup operation during my scarce SL time. I'm not really going to blog about that because there's enough tutorials on the topic - I'm essentially following the same steps as Harlow Heslop, perhaps with small variations. I started out with a nearly 40k inventory, which is now almost down to 30k, but that figure means I still have tons of work to do.

What's the point in me mentioning it, then? Well, the best thing about inventory cleanup is that one gets to discover real gems hidden in unpacked boxes, long-lost folders, etc. And what I'd like to blog about is one of those: the Raider dress from Miel (which means honey in Spanish). It sneaked into my inventory as a group gift when I touched their subscribo at some point, probably on the visit in which I got demos of pretty much everything they sell - and then never remembered to try them on, because I lost said demos in the chaos of my inventory. Anyway, the demos are now neatly packed in my "Demos" folder, and their dress makes a pretty good visiting card:

It comes in the six colours you can see above (left to right: nero, lime, gold, sky, coco and cranberry), both in solid and striped versions. In the picture I'm wearing the solid versions, except for nero, which is striped. All layer options are included, plus three sculpted parts: top, belt and skirt. The prims have a resize script that makes it really easy to fit to perfection (no zero-size bottom was needed in my case) and the colour changes are also controlled via script - which makes the dress a wonder of technology, as you only need to click once for all the different parts to change. Very practical.

Such a dress really deserved a proper set of shoes, so I went on a trip to the Shoe Fair 2011 for the occasion. I'll blog about my finds some time soon - for now, this is the list of what I got:

Yet again I have been inspired by Nadja Baxter and her taste in clothes. This time I spied her wearing Mimikri’s new release, the Breezy Dress. I thought ‘Must have!’ and went over to Mimikri to buy one.

I loved her retro twist so decided to go along the same vein. I immediately thought of Artilleri. I searched my inventory and decided on the 1st Mate Capri pants…ideal!

Then I decided that I needed new hair and accessories, so teleported over to Artilleri and went hair and glasses shopping. I ended up with the Sabina hair, loving its severe fringe and more than 1 set of glasses…lol. I plumped for the Greta Sunglasses in the end. Everything was looking great. So, back to my inventory to pull out the Artilleri Flamingo jewellery and my Maitreya Gold shoes.

To be honest I own very little Exile hair, but when I read on Plurk that Exile had new textures and new hairsies I trotted over. OK I waded through the lag and got some demos. I ended up buying Opal in the Naturals pack. I am a redhead, but I do like having options for particular looks. I am wearing 3 of the colors from that pack, Sunset, Chardonnay and Marone. What is special is the options of roots and streaks. I chose to show each color with a contrasting streak. The list of options seems to be the whole new color range, so experiment away!

52 Week Colour Challenge, Neon Orange

Neon Orange…wow! I have heard of nuclear satsuma before but never neon orange, esp. as this colour is quite tame in brilliance than one would suspect.

I have quite a bit of orange in my inventory but not an awful lot that hits this particular shade. Then I remembered a Thimbles dress that fitted the bill. The Love, Marleen in orangecream is one of those system dresses where glitch pants are used with a ‘flap’ attachment to make the skirt. Not my favourite type amongst inworld skirts but this is done with skill and attention to detail. The dress is made sexy by the panelling creating a slimming affect. To be honest, I am really glad to have rediscovered it.

I chose Nardcotix Kurvy Pumps to match with the dress, plus they sport a really cute bow.

When I heard that this week was PINK I knew exactly what to wear:) As my friends know I am a part-time furrie, thanks to my late sweet pink fox friend, Artistic Fimicoloud. It took me a while, but I finally found my "inner critter" in the Cheetah. I have this avatar by Cheetah Kitty in several colors, but during Relay for Life of Second Life season [now underway] you can often find me in this pink one. She's particularly good on the relay track as she runs on all fours and leaves a puff of dust in her wake. So clear the track, cheetah sam is baaaaaaack...

For a Friend

A slightly different blog today...an inworld friend died in rl this week.

He was in his autumn years but still young at heart, a good friend. He was a shape creator and as such had a variety of avatars. I knew him on two of them best of all. Calisto, a male avatar, was very much the gentleman and a great laugh, a talented builder and creator. Then there was Mel, the female avatar, who was one hell of a fashionista: she had great taste and sense of style. Whichever avatar he was always himself and so got away with either gender. I will miss chatting, dancing and shopping with him.

I initially threw this look on so I wouldn’t be going around sl in a bikini. However, in view of this week’s event, I have been wearing it as a show of respect. I think both Cal and Mel would have approved….lol.

Mimikri’s version of the ‘little black dress’ is both fun and elegant. An asymmetric system top sits above a lace, puffball skirt. A small lace detail sits atop the shoulder strap, reflecting the skirt. The detail of the lace is astounding, I fell in love with this dress as soon as I wore it.

I kept the skin simple with PXL’s Candy skin in PaleLips but added a Fishy lipgloss for a touch of glamour.

Another new purchase from Plume fitted the bill, especially after I tinted the hair flowers black from the menu. I needed a hair base to make the hair look right so I am using a PXL tattoo hair base.

I felt pale eyes from Miriel gave me the sombre sadness that was appropriate.

Finally, the shoes I don’t seem to be able to take off at the moment…N-Core’s Chic mules.

So, this ones for you Bernie…RIP my friend x

Olive…I love this colour.

I also knew what I wanted to blog. Azul's Mia GD is just the right shade. A formal gown, it has an asymmetric skirt which is shorter at the front showing off ones pins…lol. With a huge sash with front bow and a cupped bust line it is stylish, elegant and contemporary. The textures and design are stunning.

I wanted to keep things simple so chose PXL skin, Truth hair, Miriel eyes and N-Core shoes

Say Hello to Dany!

sachi Vixen's recent skins have been suiting me nicely and Dany is no exception. She's a lot more sophisticated than Taylor and even Laurel and quite different from my latest fave, Paige. Like Paige, Dany comes with a base skin and several eye shadows and lip colors as well as manicure/pedicure and *coughs* that hair down there. At $1800. sachi gives you a LOT. Now before anyone jumps on me, yes the photos on the left were flipped for symmetry's sake. So sue me. It's the skin that matters here. The middle shot is the base skin, very lovely by itself. The top two side pics are 2 of the lip colors and the bottom 2 are 2 of the eyeshadows. (I can't run a viewer that has the "add layer" feature so it's one at a time for me.)

Sweater is the Picnic & Flowers Cardigan from Mon Tissu. The trousers are also Mon Tissu's Horizontal Twill ones. Hair is Details from elikatira in Blonde 02. Earring are Nouveau Wave from Dark Mouse. Camisole is an old Maitreya one from her Mirli sweater set.

Double Trouble plus More

After rediscovering the SAS Trouble gown I have been meaning to blog it forever. Eventually, I have got round to it.

Trouble is one of Sascha’s older gowns but Boy! does it stand the test of time. As you can see I bought both choco and salmon colours all those years ago…lol. The dress is simple enough, a tulip shaped corset with flowers tops a choice of 4 different skirts. The addition of a shoulder flower strap makes this dress, as do the textures and styles of each of the skirts. I chose to show the ‘swooshy’ skirt and the ‘big sucker’ skirt, extremes of what are available, to show you. This gown, in any form or colour, is stunning.

The new thing I would like to blog today is the Plume Allure hair from Culture Shock 2011. A beautiful updo with colour change pins and hair sticks. Versatile and perfect to set off this gown.

The only think left for me to mention is that Sascha is celebrating 15,000 members by releasing a purple gown that offers many wearing options. If you haven’t picked it up already then do so, it is well worth it.

Tangerine has also been lurking in my "to blog" folder, specifically the Prudence Cardigan from Mon Tissu. Here I've paired it with MichaMi bottoms, Dark Mouse jewels and Adam n Eve skins to produce 2 different looks. The primmy parts on the sweater work really well, in particular the retro padded shoulders. I'm wearing MichaMi's newish Suede Skirt in Brown, the Bohemian Flare Necklace and Bank's Closed Earrings from Dark Mouse as well as Adam n Eve's new Paige in Natural. [R] Candy Clogs in Copper from Shiny Things finish off the feet:) Hair is elikatira's Details in Red 05.

Here's an earlier image from about the time the Prudence Cardigan came out. In this case I'm wearing MichaMi's Laila pants in Black along with ETD's Heel Strap Platforms [NA]. 52 Week Colour Challenge, Tangerine

Tangerine…one of my favourite colours inworld.

Of course, I instantly knew what I wanted to blog for this colour. Traps orange lacey pants, which are a few years old but still look as good today. They can be worn as shorts or trousers, I have worn the trousers to show you. I adore these with their 2 part legs, lace up backs and huge flares. They are both fun and sexy to wear.

What to wear with them? Hmmm! I recently purchased some shirts and tanks/vests from AA. Pretty and feminine, they are brilliant casual wear. I chose to try the cream floral tank with the orange shirt. Not quite as vibrant as the trousers but still hold their own. Lovely textures and attachments make well made, ‘to keep’ clothes.

My HOC sneakers were ideal footwear, colour change too. I tried the orange colour but settled on the classic black.

Skin was PXL Creations, hair was 69 and eyes were Miriels.

All in all a fun look to put together.

After having used the same skirt twice in service of 2 blue posts I was tearing out my pixel hair by the roots, until Anessa Stine of DCNY dropped her new Linen Tunic on me and the color included "Sky". PHEW! The primmy bits edited easily and voilà, "periwinkle." The Denim Vintage Capris I am wearing are from ETD and no longer available, but I thought the texture worked well with Anessa's tunic. Further down are the TomBoy Sneakies in Blue. I love these because they come in a tied and untied version, from long before scripts did all that work for us.

Perriwinkle…wow, love the colour but do I have anything of that colour?

I ended up cheating, ever so slightly, as I used my seldom used alt as I knew she had a dress that would be ideal.

DCNY Gloria Dress in Ice Blue was perfect for this challenge. A mini baby doll dress where the skirt is made up of the finest feathers. Simple, yet clever.

sf’s colour change high heel shoes were all my alt had to go with this dress. Even so, I think they look really good in the darker blues.

Well I finally got my Maitreya Gold Shanti shoes in Eggplant back from that thieving Fury :) But what else to wear. Milla saved the day with MichaMi's new Print Dress, in "purple" yet, but with "eggplanty" highlights. I tucked the leggings for her Ida underneath and called it a wrap.

I LOVE asparagus, the vegetable, but finding something that would do in my inventory was a bit tough. In the end I included all the colors of the lovely stalk. I started with the Humpday Happiness Flowery Spring Special from *_* HopScotch*_* and the Sinra Necklace in Moss Green from Mandala. The bracelet was part of an outfit from Little Town, no longer around. After rummaging through inventory history, I decided that the new MichaMi Cropped & Slouchy Pants in Green fit the bill nicely.

Eggplant…eggplant, eggplant….oh yes…aubergine! That wonderful rich, sometimes deep, purple.

Mimikri’s hot pants and sweater in grape were the closest I could get from my inventory. I have forgotten just how cool these clothes are. From the knit texture and satin insets of the main pieces to the frilly cuffs on the sweater and the tassels on the shorts this set is hot, hot, hot.

I teamed it with Maitreyas Gold shoes in eggplant and I was one happy bunny.

When Sascha Frangilli of Sascha's Designs contacted me the other day I was a little suprised but then delighted when she asked me if I would like to blog some of her designs. I already have a few items, that I feel like showing in a later blog, so was happy to accept a sneak preview of her latest release.

The Izzy Collection was gifted to her group to celebrate 15,000 members. It will soon be on general release, along with mix and match items.

The collection consists of a very retro bobby socks 1950's skirt, a set of very tight, highwaisted pants and a high collared, v-necked shirt to top it all of with. I chose to show you the trousers as I felt it was more me. I love the silhouette this outfit gives me. From the neatly tucked in boots pants to the sweep of the shirt collar. I feel like I should be hunting on horseback or swashbuckling.

In addition to the plain pants there are flowered ones available in many colours. So, one can mix and match to ones heart content.

To top the outfit off I chose to wear SAS Top Hat with Feathers. The feathers are to die for, so beautiful.

52 Week Colour Challenge, White.

White…how I love white.

I was debating as to what to blog for this colour whilst I was shopping the other day, please see previous post. My second purchase from Elemiah Designs was a pure whim, I must have that moment. The dress was white and I knew it was what I wanted to blog about for this colour challenge.

The nenu dress is simple yet quite incredible. The shape of the skirt on ones form is quiet beautiful. The basis of the whole dress is a lace bodysuit. Then there are two attachments. The first being the chest flowers and the second the skirt. Again, tweaking was needed…I am a tall avatar with a bust. This was no problem for the chest piece, as it needed moving upwards and out. However, the skirt is too short for me and it would have been nice to have been able to stretch it to fit better. As in the previous dress I blogged the attachments are no modify. Such a shame. Anyway, I decided I liked the dress enough to modify my shape and ‘shrink’ to fit. Having said all this, the dress is stunning with the lace showing skin underneath and the bold flowers on the chest and skirt making quite a statement.

And, yes…the dress is white, the flowers are neutral, the skin gives this dress colour.

Glam Affair provided the skin, pale make up but striking. I chose Miriel eyes and Truth hair to keep the look elegant and simple.

I was torn about shoes and ended up barefoot. It seemed to work.

I'm wearing Kerry with Caroline Apollo's Carlotta set in Diamond, Lelutka's Lush hair in "Rita", Maitreya Gold Ixkin in Pearl and Eleganza bouquet by Nirvana.

Stripes and Sales

I can't resist a sale, so when I saw that Elemiah Design had a 50percent off on selected items I shot over there.

I picked up the Yama dress in the sale. Such a pretty dress with its bright striped pattern and its babydoll shape. The fabric ruffles just make this dress. There were a couple of small disappointments though. The first being no system top of any kind was included with the dress and this is fine unless, the second let down, the attachments are no modify. This means that unless you are willing to change your shape size, and some avatars cannot, to that of the creator then, no matter how much up, down and sideways editing you do, they will never fit properly. Such a shame, not sure why one would not allow modify on clothes attachments, even without copy.

I am afraid that this dress is going to be put at the back of my inventory until such time that I am liking it enough to change my shape and to wear it.

52 Week Colour Challenge, Sky Blue

Sky Blue…this weeks challenge colour. I do have quite a bit of blue in my ‘wardrobe’ and I knew exactly what I wanted to share with you all.

Baiastice Silk hug dress in sky is just perfect for this week. Ideal for that desperate housewife who loves to shop or the power dressing business lady who likes to stay feminine. An under lace vest is overlaid with wide ‘straps’ that covers the bust...see picture. A wide wrap around ‘cummerband’ style, sashed waist starts from beneath the bust and finishes just on the hip. Below this sits a system skirt. The design and textures make this dress a delight to wear.

The rest is my usual except for the addition of make up, Kyoot’s Feline (Cold Coast) make up accentuates the dress with blue eyeshadow.
