When is a Yard Sale More Than a Yard Sale?

Yard Sales can be good or terrible or someplace in between, but when the Yard Sale benefits SL's Relay for Life then it's ALL good!

One such sale is going on this week at Fort Augusta, benefiting The Roma Pro Vita team. Most items for sale are one of a kind, so be sure to pick up your object once bought. What I bought, the Bare Rose Dirty Check outfit, is no longer there, for example, but many other items are. And many items are Roman themed as you might expect!

I think this is an older BareRose item as there are no glitch pants and the neck part of the scarf is system, not sculpty. It's a beat-up tartan look with nice scruffy textures. I'm wearing it with Boon SHY 48 hair in red, my trusty ETD Calf Boots, not back out yet alas :( Skin is Cupcakes Seduction Fresh in Cameo.

So seek out those RFL Yard Sales and you too can find some amazing items, while supporting a worthy cause.

It's a "Sick" Challenge from Dot Lane :)

Dot Lane said:

Hmmm...I see you in something Japanese...maybe one of the Yugao dresses from Plus Nine paired with one of the Fleur Biba skins, ankle boots, and zero style hair. I'd also like to see what you could do with the "Sick" dress from Yome Shoujo with a Fleur Vivant Pin-Ups skin...

OK Dot, here we go :)

I started with Plus Nine's Yugao Long Skirt Set (Cassis) because I loved the colors. It came with some serious shoulder fur, but that conflicted with my Zero Style hair [Dana in Black Cherry-I feel like a Black Forest Cake LOL] so it got left off. I LOVE the hem flounces, but in action they don't fit well as you move. With those and the system skirt I had trouble finding poses that didn't screw up one or both.

As requested, my skin is Fleur's new Allure Biba 3 in Truffle. The Kristin Booties are from ETD, but I couldn't decide whether to wear plum or teal so I wore one of each!

Sick you say? There are two Sick dresses by Yome Shoujo, neither of which look that way. I bought both, but ended up using the lighter of the two. The dress has layered flounces and puffy sleeves, but the pièce de résistance is the stuffed heart necklace. Normally I wouldn't wear a pillow on my chest, but this funny face grew on me during the shoot.

The skin is the requested Fleur Vivant Pin-up 2 in Blush. My clunky shoes are from the Bare Rose, It's Only a Paper Moon costume. Hair is Zero Style's Hays in Golden Wheat. [Yup, it's the demo LOL] I wanted something pig or ponytailed and this did the trick on a day when Phil's Place was no cooperating.

I had fun with your challenge Dot --thanks <3

hya & June

Two of the most creative and prolific designers on the grid are hyasynth Tiramisu of ~silent sparrow~ and June Dion of BareRose Tokyo. Each of them reaches an wide audience that overlaps in their work in the Gothic strand of pixel fashion. I'm almost in time for the 3 year celebration at BR, but woefully dilatory in my blogging of hya's Dominion Suit. Bad Sam :(

So I will start with hya's :)

Hya helped me pick the Dominion in Rust for me -- she is right -- goes with the red hair I prefer. The layers, the textures, the details are superb examples of her work. Although I wasn't brave enough to wear the plunging cleavage [I know--chicken!], so I popped the corset from the Sepia Coronis Suit underneath. I particularly like the shadow effect of the gray/black on the inside, an effect that makes the Rust seems more, well RUST :) The pictures don't do the textures justice at all. Go take a look for yourself!

My hair is Morgana, from Bewitched, found in their clearance section. Boots are my ever-trusty Calf Boots from ETD. My skin is the special Shoujo Black Swan #1 from Fleur.

"It's Only a Paper Moon" is a wonderfully light-hearted and, at the same time, sophisticated costume from the hands of June Dion. BR specializes in outfits with lots of options, so this is a bit of a change.

The image of paper swirling is very effective -- the shoes, I have to think, were made intentionally chunky to complement the outfit. The hat is the "pièce de résistance." With a gold-trimmed cream mask I'd be set for a masquerade ball! And the ARC is surprisingly low for such a detailed creation.

Hair is ETD's Bonita in Strawberry. Skin is Fleur Vivant Lustrous 3 in Buff.
