Beautiful Donna Flora Jewels

Pay It Forward :: SySy Chapman

One of the nicest people in SL is SySy Chapman. She is a talented creator, but I'm not blogging her just for that. She is one of the kindest, warmest avatars I know on the grid. And life hasn't always been easy for her either. So here's to SySy--may you be blessed with happiness!

A to Z Donna Flora: S is for Silvana and Samara (and Squinternet)

One of my favorite SL designers, Squinternet Larnia of Donna Flora is having some serious health issues. All of us wish her the strength to handle it and send her the best love we have.

Cajsa Lillhook started the Donna Flora A to Z project to let Squinternet know how much we miss and love her.

Her designs are so feminine and elegant that it's hard not to feel special while wearing them. The Silvana dress and Samara jewelry set are no exception to this rule.

Complementing the beautiful textures and prim work are Shanti Champagne shoes by Maitreya Gold, my usual Adam n Eve skin, Liane with a no-longer available hair from Amrita.

You too can feel as feminine and elegant as I do. Take the taxi to Donna Flora and spend some lindens to enjoy the work and to help Squinternet with her expenses.

For Squinternet Larnia of Donna Flora

This post was initially to show support for Donna Floras creater Squinternet Larnia, which I decided to show by going to purchase something new from her shop even though I own quite a bit from her repetoire already. I shopped before I realised what this weeks colour challenge was. So, as time is short for me, I will blog this piece as both (and yes, its out of numerical order for me but hey). Here is my avocado colour challenge.

Donna Flora for me means stunning detail and beautiful designs. When I saw Katie I fell in love. A tulip corset sits atop a puffball skirt with a difference. The front is open to a waterfall of chiffon frills that turn into a peek-a-boo undeskirt. The waist is synched with a huge chiffon flower with exteme foliage. Both delicate and bold. The candy striped texture is the icing on the cake. This is definately an event dress to make a statement with. 

Every item that comes from Donna Flora is created with the same love for detail. This can also be seen in the jewelry she creates. I purchased, at the same time, Donna Floras Linda set. Every flower and leaf have veins,even the clasp at the back is intricate. A delicate, beautiful compliment to Katie.

To round off the look I chose a PXL skin, Love Soul hair, Miriel eyes, Fishy lipgloss and SLink shoes.

I wish Squinternet a speedy and full recovery.

52 MULBERRY

Thanks again to Luna Jubilee for the 52 week color challenge. It's been quite a ride! I've taken the tack of combing my inventory for items to wear, and in the case of MULBERRY, I waxed nostalgic...

I'm wearing Claire in Raspberry [NA] from Mischief, Janie Marlowe's well-know and love brand before she rebranded as just Janie. I bought it to wear to my art opening at Tricia Aferdita's gallery in the long gone Cetus Art District. It still wears well! The skin is a memory lane visit also--*blowpop* Elizabeth tone2 in Mulberry Wine, still available. The hair is from RubisoHo in wine and is called Duri. The store still exists. Shoes are new, from Pixel Mode, the Lady T's, a kind gift from Jori Watler.

Collaboration 88

Lot'sa goodies at the current Collaboration88, including some lovely hair from Clawtooth, elikatira and Lamb that I'm not wearing. What I *am* wearing is Kyoot's Antiqued Autumn Dress in Orange, R2 Kapua shoes in Orange and the Tres Blah C88 Dewy Skin in Light. The detailing on the dress is really beautiful. The eyes are by Fleur de Male--more fantasy than I usually wear, but quite subtle. They come in 3 sizes so are unisex, despite the store name.

52 WENGE-ish

I had a WENGE outfit all lined up, then got sidetracked by inspecting a dress at a FLF stop and it led me to Carrie Snowpaw's store. I first ran into her work in the early days of InWorldz, but hadn't really sought her out in SL. This honey of a dress was on sale so I snapped it up. Then I realized well, it was Wenge-ish. Let me explain. Wenge is the name of a blackish & brownish African wood. Black -- check, brown --check, and the underlying pattern is a bit tigerish... so here we are!

52 ELECTRIC BLUE

While some folks participating in the 52 Weeks Color Challenge started by the enterprising Luna Jubilee, I like inventory diving to see what I can find. And, if you have been following my 52s you know that blue is a problem for me. What did emerge is this very old "freebie" from Yak & Yeti, paired with another old freebie, the Signature Sandals from Lassitude & Ennui. Hair is the new Eden from Truth and skin is PXL Creations Gaia. Jewelry by Donna Flora and poses by [LAP].

SySy *sigh*

For my money SySy is one of the grid's underrated creators. Her dresses are always smooth to the touch with a nice mix of elegant and minxy:)


First up is NOELLE, which I am wearing in Green. It's a lovely system skirt with a wider prim skirt at the bottom. The bodice is "held up" by thin straps that are nicely detailed.


Next is LuLu which was a holiday gift in red. The modest row of small buttons leads down to a deliciously poofy skirt.

In both shots I am wearing a past TDR hair from BOON, Donna Flora earrings, the Taylor skin from Adam n Eve, Maitreya Gold IXkin in Pearl. On my wrist is the new Sorella cuff from :: MOOD ::

What to Wear? Try RED from A&E

It's New Year's Eve and I'm wearing Adam and Eve, starting with sachi's new and elegant formal, Chiandra, in RED. Yes it comes in other colors, but the RED is what you want:) It is a modest dress, despite its color and beautifully textured. I'm also wearing A&E's Connie hairstyle in Golden and the new Taylor skin in Natural Blush. My jewelry is from Donna Flora and the poses are the "Rosalie" ones from Gesticulate. All items except the jewelry were either presents or review copies.

52 Sepia

I've been champing at the bit on this one as I knew the minute sepia was announced as the next 52 challenge color that I would wear hyasynth Tiramisu's Coronis Suite from ~silent sparrow~. It was one of my first big splurge purchases from there and I've never regretted it. Coronis is a ball-worthy gown if there ever was one.

Flapper time

This look started with a group themed photoshoot...Gangsters and Flappers. I thought I must have something, so delved into my inventory. I came up with a look I had used for a Fleur skin shoot, love it, wish i wore it more but far too formal. I decided to go visit my favourite speakeasy, The Vault, and do a touch of window shopping there.

I came upon Donna Flora, what a treat! As soon as I saw the Holly dress I knew that was the basis for the look. It's nicely textured, draped folds on the front of the top with a wonderful art deco detail forming the back piece. The skirt is quite a construction....starting with the system pants you add a flexi skirt of the same material. A further flexi 'skirt', of a complimentay material, is added as a leg attachment and stockings are also included. This gives the whole dress the Flapper feel. A prim flower adds to the overall look. Wonderful! The folder also contains jewelry but I have left this off as I like the clean lines.

Next on the agenda were shoes...and for some reason I remembered seeing Shiny Things Belles shoes. Off I went to purchase a pair...hmmm..colour? Purple or red? I eventually got both...am bad with decisions...lol....and I am wearing the purple with the dress.

The hair was the next important step and, as I have more hair than I really should have, I went back to my inventory. I ended up with <TheAbyss> Hair - Aeon - Full Moon as it gives that razor sharp, assymetric bob that screams 1920s.

My skin I already knew I was going to choose was Fleur Allure Alabaster Biba 1...dramatic 1920s, smokey eyed, scarlet lipped pale waif look.

Just one thing left to complete the Flapper look...i needed a cigarette and holder. Ha! Yes, I even have this in my inventory in the form of Digital dragon Vintage Cigarette Holder with Cigarette.

There you have my severe, cool(?), Flapper...ready for her gangster...lol
