We could also call this "the old quad post" as my skin is from Celestial Studios, Vogue Winter 2 in Champagne and my shoes and hair are from ETD. Julie is an outfit that I wear often, with the slouchy leg option.

A Bloggers Challenge

As we head into a new decade I thought it would be fun and instructive to share the 3 items in our inventory that we couldn't part with.

It was hard to choose ... let's see ... how many Last Call outfits do I own? What about my 5th & Oxford and PXL Creations skins? The dress and shoes named after me by sachi and Damen? All of Truth's recent hair? Miriel's no longer available eyes? My Oracul AO? My collection of too many houses?

I reined myself in and decided to pick just three "little things" that I would REALLY miss.

Oh wow... it's not summer any more! Not even in Spain! How on Earth did that happen? Must be global warming. Right, so I'd better save that bikini blog post for next year (Ha! yet again) and show something more appropriate for the season...

Yes, that's much more like it. The central piece of the outfit is the DuffelCoat in beige from Aoharu, truly primlicious in terms of detail. It includes not only a prim hood and prim buttons, but the lower part is also sculpted and it has pockets! Pockets! I think I'm not taking it off until spring. I had a bit of a conundrum as to what to pair it with, but freebies came my way to make my life easier: the black turtleneck sweater is a group gift from *COCO* (one of many, well worth sacrificing a slot to grab the whole lot from the gift wall at the main store), and I found the scarf, also free, almost accidentally while browsing XStreet. It's from a place called Edge Grafica (totally unknown to me, but hey, I live under a rock) and it's copy/mod, so it lends itself for nice adjusting (I removed the back flexi prims so they wouldn't interfere with the hood). And I totally dig the safety pin.

In keeping with the theme, I rescued the Destroyed Wash jeans from Celestial Studios, an old classic of mine, paired with with the Unisex Classic Moccas from Armidi Gisaci (I read Milla's blog from under my rock, thank goodness for that, and thank goodness she's back or I'd be barefoot). The hair is (still) Fri.day's Cassie in jealous red, the skin is (still) Tuli's Hope in Onyx (the september picks reward), the Muted Hazel eyes and the Natural lashes are (still) Miriel's, and the poses are (still) from [LAP]. Some things never change.

Ah yes, the Tigers Eye earrings (which you can't really see, but I swear they were there the last time I looked) are from the RH Engel Jewelry Sahara collection.

Cute as a Pumpkin

The post title is a take-off on a phrase I heard often when I was growing up and now in Second Life, "You're cute as a button." I had to take it in RL, but I get asked in SL, why, since you CAN be taller in here, in fact you can be anything you want to be, why are you short? Well to be honest I wouldn't know how to handle all those extra pixels:) So I'm short inworld and you use the aforementioned phrase at your own risk.



So here are two pumpkin-themed outfits based on the G Field Halloween dollarbie. The outfit on the right cost L$2 at the most, excluding hair and skin The [chuculet] crocodile brown earrings were L$1 I think. The "tights" are the burnt orange cords from the Celestial Studios' "Week of Love" a year or so back. And the boots are a subscribo gift for Maitreya, the Soho Boots in Pumpkin. I really like the Long Sweater from G Field, with its system skirt and large buttoned collar. [See there ARE buttons in this post.]

On the left the A+A feathers&bullets necklace has bumped the collar and I've added the new Zaara Nishar leggings in pumpkin, oooooops "Tangerine." The necklace was made for someone with more of a continental shelf than I have so I had to wiggle it around a bit to sit right. And the leggings ... the turquoise picks up enough of the green from the belt and buttons that I like the look. All together the leggings and earring added about L$360 to the outfit -- not bad at all! My skin is Jolie from Dutch Touch, Dew in Cream and Cameron in Pumpkin is from Truth

I'm one of those people that think Pumpkin is a terrific fall color, not just for Halloween. So "cute as a pumpkin" it will be :)

Siren Sam

When sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve asked on Plurk if any blogger would like to review her new exotic skin, Siren, I thought what the heck. So I'm normally pale and redheaded -- let's give this a try. And I have to say that Siren is pretty amazing.

The face modeling is a bit dramatic, with a very small beauty mark. I photographed the Berry & Cherry makeups as they suited my avi better than the naturals. I wore my usual eyes and hair colors. I tried the darkest tone on first and was stunned. VERY different, but still Sam. For me Tones 2 & 3 are very wearable so expect to see me wandering around for a bit in them :) I love the eyeshadow on both Berry & Cherry. Thanks to sachi for letting me see Sam in a new and lovely light!

The Knobby Hair Post

After I saw Amacci's new Olivia on the feed I knew it was mine. I like it a LOT, especially the knobs and the escaping tendrils, but after a minute of mulling, I realized I had a number of knobby styles in my inventory. Hence the post title.



I'm wearing Olivia in Henna from the Copper pack. Top is from the new Ibizarre Tweed set. The earrings are the Sofia ones from [chuculet]. Skin is my new standby, Kim Natural Spring Rose from PXL Creations and my eyes are from poetic colors, the Summer-Lavender Field.



And here are the knobs I can remember owning approximately in order of acquisition:

A "Lulu" of a Design from Michami

One of the things I like best about Milla Michinaga's designs for her Michami label, apart from the beautifully done textures, is the versatility of the outfits. There are always multiple layers and several options, as here in the Lulu Jumpsuit, which comes with two different belts, black and beige. I'm wearing the latter. I am also enamoured of the sculpty leg and arm bits--very well done indeed!

Milla's clothes are always very sophisticated, so for the skin I am wearing an older Celestial Studios Deviant Nation Vamp-Beguile in Champagne. In this case "old" is new when worn with Lulu. Hair is ETD Sarah in Blonde. My shoesies are the *cough* Stiletto Moody Pinup (Grey Patent Python). Necklace is from Milla's about to be neighbor on the Muse sim [once she moves in], Lucas Lameth. It is his Gaea necklace in Lucite & Quartz, a lovely foil for the muted Lulu colors.

Whippet & Buck go p.c.

Much of this week's buzz has been about the new Spring Collection at paper couture, but another event has taken place which should please those of us with more classic tastes. I am speaking of the formal opening of Whippet & Buck. Bits and pieces have been available previously, but it wasn't until recently that the spring/summer line has been shown together.




In honor of BOTH events I hereby offer a Whippet & Buck/paper couture mash-up.

My dress is the Bardot Tube Dress in Bordeaux. It's a lovely strapless sheath dress with a warm plaid pattern. I will show it soon in other guises, but here it holds its own beautifully with several paper couture accessories.

I'm wearing the belt from p.c.'s older dress, "Falling Leaves" and the new Carnelian Necklace and earrings set that pick up the orange in the dress beautifully. Shoes are my trusty ETD Heel Strap Platforms in Persimmon, my hair is Loraine 2 in Auburn, also from ETD. Skin is Fleur Shoujo #4 in Azalea. My eyes are Spanish Moss from Poetic Colors and eyelashes are the Deviant Nation ones from Celestal Studios.

Lost Dreams . . . . . . . . . Can be found!

Just before the RFL Clothing Fair Estelle Parnall, the creator behind Lost Dreams, asked for volunteer models from her update group. I was lucky enough to be asked to pose for her in these two beautiful dresses, the Ellie Black Evening Dress & the Glamazon Ruby Red Dress. They are available at her store now. Ellie is in the main room while Ruby is to the right in the Glamazon section with other goodies :)


The Glamazon Ruby Red Dress is a nicely textured slinky dress with a sleeveless top crowned by a sparkling diamond collar. I'm wearing ETD's Aiiyanna in Smoke and Celestal Studio's Deviant Nation Vogue Vamp-Beguile in Champagne.



Ellie is a stunning full-length slender formal. The minute it rezzed on me for the shoot I started purring. The texture of the top is detailed and elegant. Hair is ETD Patricia in Caramel Burnt and my skin is a Custom Soda in Sand.

The jewelry in both pictures is the Vine necklace and earrings created by Dexter Bachman available at his store in Porcupine as well as at Bellissima. Shoes are moot LOL

Two Friday Mashups!

I started this post Tuesday and the title, "Two Tuesday Mashups," was better than this one, but life conspired. It's Friday and that will have to do.




In the first one I am wearing my first Skin Flicks outfit, the Georgette Blouse and slacks. To complement the orange and rust of the blouse I am wearing ETD's Camille in Auburn Burnt and Elika's Kristin booties in Spice. I've yet to find a color that I don't like these boots in.My Fleur Allure skin is Exotique 3 in Truffle. Jewelry is Lucas Lameth's Feuille Naturelle in Silver & Forest.



In the second mashup I am wearing all of Dani's Fine Fashion's Plaid Retro Dress *except* the belt and skirt. The scrunched up legging bottoms are pretty nice:) Earrings are Coccoon's Cradle, skin is Celestial Studios Deviant Nation Vamp-Beguile in Champagne. Hair is the old ETD Couture, The Knot, with Left Swept Bangs. Since the couture colors were specific to that line, I tinted the bangs in Elika's Brown to make the match. Shoes are my ever-faithful Heel Strap Platforms from ETD. If the Lindens evere were to say, "you have to move to a new grid and you can only take one pair of shoes with you," these would be it ;)

So similar, yet so different

This post has been inspired by two different PixelLounge sets that have one piece in common, the skirt, yet the final looks are very far from each other.



This is the first ensemble, which I actually wore a while ago and just showed off on Flickr. I liked it so much, though, that I thought it would be worth rescuing for this blog. It originated with me looking for something to show off what was my newest Fleur skin, a special group gift that members got for the Fleur sim reopening (so it’s no longer available, I’m afraid). It is from the Shoujo DNB line and as you can see it includes some cute little pink flowers framing the eye, so I decided to pick up on that for the rest of the outfit. Unfortunately, being a redhead, I don’t wear pink too often (although it would be fitting in order to say ‘yes!’ against bullying, but I think I can say that in whatever I'm wearing), but I knew I could make it work with pink and black, which is a combination I absolutely love. So, I pulled an ‘out-of-the-box’ with the Princess Set, tights included, and I paired the dress with the Redgrave black boots. (For those interested, both PixelLounge dresses are currently available at the PixelDolls outfit sale, at 50L each.) In order to keep focus on the skin, the only accessory I wore was a paw necklace I got ages ago at a shop called 9 Lifes, which I’m afraid no longer exists. Finally, for hair I picked ETD’s Peyton (in scarlet), which fitted so neatly in order to show off the flowers on the skin, delicately framing the other side of the face.



The second outfit is much more casual (although I’m sure with the right accessories it can look much more formal). In this case I tried to keep my out-of-boxing to a minimum, so I only used the dress from the original set (Embroidered), and for a more casual touch I used completely opaque tights (which could as well have been leggings): the metallic lycra tights from G.L.A.M. (a retired freebie), tinted by moi to match the top, and flat boots – the Shiny Things comfy ones in charcoal. The coverage was a bit unbalanced, so I decided to add something underneath the dress top - first I had the idea of something light and sheer, but I came across this sweater, Eva by Pink Outfitters (black, of course), and I knew it would fit just right, with the neck ruffle adding the touch of lightness I was looking for. Once dressed, it’s time for hair and skin – this time I felt like trying something different, so I cheated. I confess, I’ve been unfaithful... to Fleur. Shame on me, I’m a bad, bad Insider, but I wanted something a bit more punkish and... *coughs* I did some market research with the competition. ;-) I ended up buying one of the Deviant Nation skins (Last Call – Fishnet), which at the moment are still on sale for just 100L, freckled and unfreckled, with complimentary prim lashes. I mean... how could I say no? And finally, on my cheating spiral I went off somewhere else for hair too – as the pictures testify, I was green with envy after seeing how fantabulastic Armidi hair looks on Keris, so I decided to try myself and got me The Roxy (in red, of course).

Save me a waltz ...

The Second Life Relay for Life Kickoff is this Saturday, with the Relay itself being July 18-19. One delight of the Relay season in SL is the many proms and balls. Today I'm sharing two wonderful dresses that I'll be wearing when the occasion prompts.




The first is Marguerite by Clio Cardiff of Pret a Porter. I couldn't decide between the green or the burgundy, but finally decided GREEN! The textures are simple, but luxurious. The drapes on the front add a bit of risk to what is a very open backed bodice and the flowing train has a lovely shape indeed! One of the issues with a high neck for me is that of what jewelry to wear. A necklace tends to look odd, so I chose the Meadowlark set from Balderdash and just repositioned the brooch a bit for good placement. The closeup is to show you a bit of the amazing prim work involved in this delicate, yet substantial brooch. The lovely gloves are included. My hair I discovered through Milla Michinaga and is called Akami from MADDesigns. My skin is a Fleur Shoujo DNB 2 in Azalea.




The second ballgown is a complex creation from Paper Couture. The various parts attach in surprising places, but they all more gloriously on the dance floor. Yes, this one has been "waltz tested" LOL The textures are rich, brocade that is "sequined." The ARC is brutal, but it's worth every tick on the FPS ;) Shoes are from Prim Seduction, Glamour in Silver. Hair is the old ETD Couture, The Knot, with Left Swept Bangs. Since the couture colors were specific to that line, I tinted the bangs in Elika's Brown to make the match. My skin is Celestial Studios Vogue Deviant Nation Drama Queen-Backstab in Champagne.

So bring on those balls --I'm ready to waltz!

hyasynth Tiramisu makes glorious outfits, but she also makes wonderful smaller things, among them the Grimly skirts, her cardigans and now, Shruggie.




Shruggie comes in some wonderful colors [I'm wearing it in Creme] and has nice primmy bits, but I left them off as they didn't look quite right with the rest of the outfit. Besides this way you see how wonderful hya's textures are on the system layer. Shruggie comes in the jacket and shirt layer, which is VERY helpful as the top of the eLDee Kiki pants is on the jacket layer. I'm wearing Celestial Studio's Trixie cami in Rouge on the undershirt layer. Shoes are the Tesla Marie in Red & Tan. I think they pick up the colors in the outfit nicely:)

Hair is Ivy from Truth in Carrot and my skin is Fleur Allure Lounge 2 in Truffle. Earrings are an old group freebie from SLink. Poses are mostly by {flowey}

Don't "shrug" this one off -- you'll find many uses for these little wonders from the hands of hya :)

Love me, love my boots

Hello again, my friends! With spring around the corner (at least here in Spain), the dreaded day is slowly approaching in which I will have to toss my boots and welcome sandals again... so I bought a new pair – but it all came to pass by accident, I promise.

Let me tell you what happened: I was looking for furniture for our new home (Keris and I have finally moved in together!), and XStreet kept bringing the slouchy Lya’s Valentina boots among the results. Why? I don’t know. Coincidence? Destiny? Good marketing? Whatever, I’m an easy girl when we talk about boots, so I didn’t think twice and bought them in rust. My five cents: wonderful textures upon sculpty perfection, even though they’re no mod and they don’t come with a resize script. Given the chance, I would have shrunk them a bit, but hey, I won’t complain, their beauty makes up for that.

What really started this ensemble was Zaara’s Kashmiri shawl, which I had been trying to combine for ages, always ending somewhat unconvinced with the results. Finally I resolved that pairing it with neutrals would highlight the embroidery, so I dug out my inventory and found my long lost Maitreya Mirli sweater in brown – it comes with three cami options, but you can’t really see which one I was wearing (soft green).

Blue jeans complete the outfit – the Destroyed Wash version by Celestial Studios, strategically worn out to dress me down a bit.In that spirit, I kept accessories to a minimum, opting instead for be-hatted hair – the lovely Morgan from Truth (ok, I bought like 20 hairstyles at the 50L sale and I’m planning to show them all). The cap comes with a retexturing script, so I chose green for that too. Last but not least I added Maitreya’s sculpted Old Leather Belt in dark brown, an old group gift which is now available at their store.

As for the rest, can you guess? Correct! The skin is a Fleur, more specifically, the clean-faced, almost-no-makeup DNB Shoujo 3; while the eyes (mossy rock) and lashes (natural) are from Miriel. For a change, the poses used are Juicy’s Model 5 (group gift), Torridwear’s Free Model Poses and, on the second picture, Fashion S5 from Reel Expression (not free).

Pssssssssssst...

I was talking with Lucas Lameth in IM and nagging him for some newness and then, WOW, he dropped Undine and Maya II on me. Can we say we are bowled over, thrilled and about to pass out from delight? Not only is it newness, but it is MAJORLY wonderful.




On the left is Undine, available in three different crystal colors and the metal is color change by touch. It's all wonderful, but I especially love the teardrop on the earrings. On the right is Maya II. I can see the resemblance, but it is in my opinion a whole 'nuther ball game. The shape, the gold overlays and the colors available are not your grandmother's Maya. This is the set in Rainbow Opal. The other choices include Bluestone, Green Silica, Onyx and Red Carnelian. Perhaps one of the reasons I am so taken by this set is that I would do many things to acquire this look in RL.

What else I am wearing is minor in comparison, but it includes Celestial Studios Deviant Nation Vogue Skin Vamp-Beguile in Champagne, ETD's Aiiyanna in Auburn Burnt and Nicky Ree's Brenda in Pink.

I think Lucas is baaaaaaaaaaack :)

Sn@tchable Goodies!

I'm liking the Pose Challenge from Achariya's Pose Challenge as there is no rule that says you can't post more than once :) So today I am featuring Ivey Deschanel's poses from her store, Sn@tach, now on sale for the measly amount of L$17 each. I'm not sure how much longer that will last, so best to sn@tach them up while you can!



Sn@tch's poses are a bit edgier and unusual than some other poses I have. Since the poses are numbered I don't feel the need to label them as I did with the poses from {flowey}. The full set does include 29 poses, of which Iam showing the requested 5 :)

Unaccustomed as I am ...

... to wearing hair or skin from anyone other than ETD or Fleur, I'm doing so for today's mashup.





It started with the hair from Analog Dog. It's the first short style I've seen from then that I really like, although I actually had to stretch it to make the hairline work for me. [Usually their hair swallows me whole.] The style is Mia and I'm wearing it in Cherry I think. [I'm one of those whose login is currently blocked for inventory maintenance. Now if I could just get them to organize it for me LOL]

As did half the grid I think, I wandered over to the Aoharu sale. Did some serious damage in shoes, looked at the clothes and they still weren't for me. But I'd never looked at their skins before so off I trotted down the sim to Aoharu2. I fell for Lisa Pinky Eye for its eyeshadow and blush. The body detail isn't super, but then that face did me in. And at half-price why not?

Rest of the mashup is the Trixie cami in Wisteria from Celestial Studios, Violet Voltaire's No Love Lost necklace, Michami's cigarette pants from the Joanie outfit in black and without their delicious prim cuffs. The cuffs from the pants conflicted with my orginal boots so I just made myself some matching socks. Shoes are Maitreya's Mishima Dawn in Puce, while the belt is the pouch belt in black from Shiny Things.

From Top to Toe:)

I have to admit that I'm a copycat here:) After I saw the (luc) Rebirth poster on the feed and knew I NEEDED it, I was also hunting down the camisole Grazia was wearing in the ad. As luck would have it, it was part of Celestial Studio's Phoenix Sweater Dress. Which I then bought in two colors because it was so wonderful. I'm wearing the Thistle.



Now how many ways do I love this dress? Many!! The cami *is* superbly lacey, but don't miss the wonderful textures on the dress itself, with the ribbed edge and the delightful double row of little buttons, plus a prim belt that is amazing and helps to mask the connection between the top and the system skirt. Yes -- system skirt. Thank you Starley for not saddling us with one of those mini-skirt prims. This is a delight! Oh and then there are the lace-edged leggings. This is just about perfection in pixel-wear.

My shoes are Elika's new Kristin Booties in Plum. The softness of the textures and the yummy bow on the side make these booties very wearable indeed!

But of course not forgetting where this all started -- with the new (luc) set, Rebirth. I got it in Turquoise, which reminds me of the Navajo Blossom design, but with the added benefit of a metal change script. I'm showing you both the black and the silver.

While looking for hair that wouldn't cover the eyes on my new Allure Smokin' 2 skin from Fleur, I rediscovered ETD's Tyra in my inventory, which I am wearing in Cinnamon Burnt. The skin shade is Truffle. Between this makeup and Lounge 2 I may never need another skin. What pleases me so much is that, in providing us with more detail and contrast in Allure, Fleur has not lost sight of the perfection that is their hallmark.

So thanks to (luc) and Grazia for getting me started and the Celestial for keeping me going!

Support SL Content Creators III

Well I did the thing I know best, I shopped! I went and bought from 4 of the wonderful content creators in SL. In the two left images I am wearing the tag from the PROTEST AGAINST CONTENT THEFT Group.

I am wearing the *PERSONA* Itaparica pants in dark gray and the top [including the lace insert] in bluish gray made by Myllie Writer. The detail is nicely done and I like the way the top tucks into the pants. My boots are the new Eva Suede Boots in fawn from SLink , made by Siddean Munro. I visited the Kraftika Jewelry shop for the first time having seen some of Anuitka Barthelmess' work in a blog. Didn't buy the blogged item, but fell in love with No. 109 with its fan shaped pendant with a subtle gold heart and wonderful asymmetry in the placement of the beads on the neck chain.


But the BIG purchase was my first Abyss skin. I had been eyeing them for a while, but so many choices and even more lindens ... but with the attention paid to skin texture theft yesterday I wanted to put my pixels where my avi was so to speak LOL I am wearing the Abyss Jadzia Illicit 2 B skin and loving it. The surface of the skin is flawless, the B level of lip glossiness suits me fine and the eye makeup is among the best in SL. A lot of lindens for sure, but worth it even without the desire to support SL content creators.

Otherwise I am wearing Maaliyah by ETD in auburn burnt, Beauty Raine's brown rainbow fantasy eyes and Celestial Studios' Classic 6 eyelashes.
