52 Week Colour Challenge, Firebrick

Firebrick…lovely colour but tricky.

I finally settled on the complete outfit from Sparkle Skye Designs. The Harvest Fae has just the right colour in the skirt for this challenge. A stunning gown with flowers on chest and waist plus a full ball gown skirt makes for a wonderful formal if nothing else. The head wreath, cuffs, wand and fantastic wings are like icing on the cake…making this intoa beautiful gown for any Autumn Fae.

In this second part of the Nicky Ree releases for RFL 2011 I am going to show you the three established Nicky Ree gowns that have been released in specially selected colours for this years RFL.


Oh, I failed to mention that 100% of the proceeds from all the gown collections mentioned in this blog and the previous will go to the RFL.

I have chosen to show the svelte gowns in all cases but both Tanya and Tricia have other fuller skirt and pant suit options included in the collections.

DNR Lana is a satin and lace gown in pink, a real fairy princess gown. The textures are so immaculate that you can imagine running your hands down the smooth satin. A simple tulip bust lined corset falls into a svelte skirt with train. Fingerless satin evening gloves finish the look.

DNR Tricia is a lace brocade gown fit for any occasion. Again, the texture makes you want to touch the fabric. This time a simple tulip bust lined corset sits upon either a svelte skirt with a long train or a fuller ballgown skirt or a bell shaped skirt. Matching evening gloves give this gown Oscar ceremonies feel to it.

DNR Tanya is a little bit more edgy in design than the other two gowns. A halter neck tops off a variety of options including pants, a ballgown skirt and a simple svelte skirt. The fabric has a crocodile skin pattern to it, making the sheen of the fabric catch the light giving off different hues. This collection is great for a romantic dance or a boogie at a disco.

All three of these collections showcases Nicky’s talent in clothes design and execution. To buy one for FFL is, again, worth every Linden spent.

Sixties Chick

Scrabbling to find something to wear the other day I stumbled upon Mimikris dress from The Dressing Room from a few weeks back. A black & white, halter neck, short babydoll dress. A chiffon layer falls from the bust line and explodes into layers of ruffle flowers at the hemline. So pretty!

When I put it on I immediately thought sixties era. So I dug out kik hair, A PXL skin with Glam Affair make up to accentuate the eyes and Slink shoes.

Kept it simple yet feels chic sixties. Took a while to take it off my pixels...lol.

52 Week Colour Challenge...Sienna

Sienna…this week’s colour I thought would be easy. I have loads of earthy/ autumnal colours in my inventory. Wrong! No names sienna items….so, a trying on fest started.

I compromised in the end with a dress that isn’t entirely sienna but has some parts of that colour, plus I tried to be sienna in other features. The dress is from Sugarcube, the ‘Not Square Dress’. A striped, puff ball skirted dress that is a lot of fun to wear.

I kept the look simple with Maitreya Gold shoes (with sienna toe nails), kik hair (picked up at last year’s hair fair), Miriel eyes and PXL’s skin.
