Drawn to Forrest

Yesterday morning I was catching up on the overnight fashion feeds when I spied the new release from Bliss Couture, the Liang Gown, on a couple of the blogs. About 10 minutes later a good inworld friend sent me a link to the said same dress. Being a sucker for bustles, how could I resist?

An Asian style gown with a twist. The top is the classic Chinese collared usual. The skirt is the star though; side slits all the way up to waist level means longer legs for everyone. At the back, a simple but effective bustle gives a surprising addition of style. The beautiful patterned texture and colour are superb, along with the creation. A classy but sexy dress.

I didn’t think this gown needed much adornment as it stands on its own quite well, so I used a PXL Candy skin, Miriel eyes and Truth hair. Shoes are N-Cores.

Oh, and I wish to thank Strawberry Singh for her shadow tutorials. They encouraged me to play with my windlight settings to get the most out of my graphics card. The Kirsten viewer was used with my own windlight settings for these shots.

Stunning Stacy

Nicky Ree’s latest release is a stunning svelte evening gown.

The top is sheer with cleverly placed flowers for modesty. The skirt is a rich sequined affair that falls into a long, elegant train (2 lengths are provided). The skirt is topped with flowers that reflect the upper bodice.

Stacy is both sexy and elegant: I haven’t taken it off since I got it.

Currently, Nicky Ree Group Members are enjoying a discount on the Stacy in pink. This offer lasts until noon on the 25th Sept 2010. Just wear group tag to buy it.
See below for other details.

A Gift

Samara Barzane is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met inworld, and I don’t mean her avi looks- although she is beautiful. Last week she insisted I went over to check out Paper Couture's new 2010 autumn collection. I was reluctant but Sam is, if nothing else, very persuasive and very difficult to say ‘no’ to. We played Linden Dollar ping pong for a while until she insisted that I buy something as an early birthday present. What could I say but OK.

I have bought PC in the past few years and love their unique creativity in clothes design. However, on a couple of occasions I have been a little disappointed in their execution of the clothes. So, after I bought both Red Skies and Shell Stitched Linen gowns I quickly tried them on. I haven’t blogged Red Skies as I was unhappy with the quality of the clothes making. With the Shell Stitched Linen gown I was delighted with the design and quality of creation BUT no glitch pants were included with the gown. Now, I never go knickerless inworld so I rummaged for suitable under garments that would not show below this incredible skirt. Is this just a mishap by PC or laziness or on purpose…whatever I feel it should be my choice if I decide to go without underwear and feel an inworld skirt is incomplete without its glitch pants.

On the plus side, what an incredible gown. A tube corset top sits on a short system skirt that is hidden by a double layer of linen. The skirt is shorter at the front and cascades to its full length creating a lovely frame for the legs. I love it.

The rest of what I am wearing can be found below.

Thank you Sam for a beautiful present x

Lil's Lingerie

When a zanna Mirajkar dropped a note card on me asking if I wouldn’t mind checking out a store called Lil’s I thought to myself…’why not?’. She also said that if I liked something then would I mind blogging it. So I hopped over and took a stroll around. To be honest, at first, I didn’t see anything that rattled my cage: then I saw the lingerie :)

The Mystique Lingerie is an all lace affair with pretty sculpted roses for details. I only wore the basic bra and panties for the blog but several combinations are included. This set is well made; no ‘bleeding’ and the seams are really good. I was really impressed with this extremely pretty underwear.

Cinful Nights is a negligee with a naughty body underneath, which forms the basis of this nightwear. The body is sheer as sheer can be with a beautiful lace detail trickling over the bust and can be worn on its own. The negligee attachment falls from beneath the bust in a cascade of pleats. It has a retro feel that I so adore.

I will keep an eye on Lilac Nivens work in the future, I wish her good luck.

New Release

Nicky Ree released a brand new swimsuit this week and it was instant love for me. The DNR Bubble Bloem Swim Wear Set consists of a one piece swimsuit that looks like a bikini at the back, and a waist length jacket, for those cooler summer evenings. Again, Nicky’s hand drawn textures make these pieces beautiful. I think the jacket is the star though. It’s slightly see-through with wonderful princess, frilly cuffs and a frilly collar that cascades to the jacket bottom. All the flexi pieces move beautifully. This set feels soft and sexy.

I teamed the swimsuit with a new purchase from Truth, Miranda, and I chose to wear a streaked version too, very unlike me. This stunning hairdo really doesn’t know whether it’s an up do or a down do. It is piled high with curls that fall elegantly over one shoulder. Soft and sexy just like the swimsuit.

A recent linden splurge at Maitreya sale meant I could wear the Maitreya Gold- Esprit-Xtd in cherry, although I was tempted by just wearing prim feet. Just a quick mention that these shoes are brilliant, not only a HUD to perfect skin and nails but also a touch menu to allow colour changes to the shoes details.

My usual suspects are PXL Creations Candy skin and Miriel eyes.

Heigh-ho! Come to the Fair!

The Hair Fair that is.

Running until September 19 on 4 sims it is an annual event that supports the worthwhile organization, Wigs for Kids. Since I'm under some RL pressure these days, this will be a bit more catalog-ey than I'd like and only covers a very few of the offerings. All of the styles cries out for their own "look", but I opted for just a top and an occasional change of skin.

left to right:
Banadana Day (Vanity Hair), Islands (Tiny Bird), Kelani/Russet Glow (Damselfly)
Comments: I chose this bandanna because they took liberties with the basic shape and created something very wearable. While I always love Tiny Bird and Islands is no exception, I have never really given Damselfly a chance. And Kelani is a winner.

left to right:
Connie/Golden (Adam n Eve) (R), Turnip Sorbet/Pipi (Clawtooth) (R)
Comments: sachi has just started making sculpty hair. I hope she never stops. What to say about Bubbles? Edgy, retro and reds that leave no doubt.

left to right:
My Shilova/Orange you glad (Clawtooth (R), Miranda (Tekeli-li), Iris/Pearl (Adam n Eve) (R)
Comments: See above. As for Tekeli-li I am ready to destroy the infidels! All metal and gem elements are color-change.

left to right:
Daisy Darling/goldenblonde (Tea Lane) (R), Wasted Tiers/lightcoolbrown (Tea Lane) (R)
Comment: Teagan dropped a number of styles on me and I had a lot of fun trying them on and playing with the color change menus on Wasted Tiers. These styles in particular cried out for a creative photoshoot. Both are a collaboration between Teagan and Laynie.

There is MUCH more at the Hair Fair--so get thee there pronto!

Skins are from PXL Creations and Adam n Eve.

Hyper Culture, new release

A new release by Christensia Parkin, owner and designer of Hyper Culture, hd me wondering which colour to blog. The Natasha Gown has cross body straps and ‘boob’ tube with a low, over the hip skirt flowing down below. Made me think of Bollywood. There are such a rich choice of colours to chose from that I struggled for a while…finally settling on the gold and the chocolate to shoot. It’s well made and sexy without being trashy. The only thing I would have liked is more prim skirt attachments…to give a slightly fuller skirt and prevent leg peeking through at times.

Once on I immediately thought of Yak & Yeti jewellery. I donned the nose flower, tika and earrings from their Bollywood Jewellery and their bangles from the Indian Glass set. To finish I felt I needed a belly jewel and I found one at Sparklers!, simple but classic.

My new N-Core Soul shoes in gold finished the outfit.

Skin is PXL Creations, hair is Truth’s and eyes are Miriels…all the usual suspects.

DNR Angie Gown

Trying to decide what to wear to inworld work the other day and I decided to give myself a little challenge.

I plumped for *DNR* Angie Long Dress in Orange. I don’t usually wear orange but I just fancied it. This wonderful gown is an empire waistline that the skirt flows from. Nature inspired texture design makes this a truly magical dress to wear.

I chose [PXL] Candy NAT Orange skin to match the dress, an old ETD hair, Aiiyanna, in chestnut and Miriels Snow eyes to contrast.

My shoes are a recent purchase from N-Core, Soul XtremeHeel II worn without the chains (sorry you can’t see them for the dress).

Alienbear came to my rescue with the jewelry as I used the Gold Princess Rosana Set.

I was quite pleased with my attire and think it would be perfect for long romantic beach walks or dancing under the stars.

Blogger Challenge...Oldies but Goodies

Alysha Rennahan issued a set of bloggers challenges on Plurk…the first of which is to blog Oldies but Goodies (blog only items that are at least a year old, if not older). I thought why not, could be fun!

So, as I love being all dressed up I chose, surprisingly, a formal gown, my real old favorite from Victoria V The Moulin Rouge. Still a beautiful dress today, with its sleek, black satin textures, tight corset top and its wonderful bustled skirt with train.

This dress always makes me think old Southern USA, kind of Gone with the Wind, and as such I wanted ringlets in my hair. Cake’s wonderful Precious hairdo fitted the bill.

My skin could only be Fleur…pale and beautiful with a splash of deep red lips.

My jewelry harked back to my early days inworld. The classic and stunning Nonna Hedges Art Nouveau Orchid Set in Platinum.

Shoes I kept simple with Juicy’s wonderful Classic Pump.

Eyes are my usual Miriels, as they are over a year old.

I even used over a year old selection of poses from Long Awkward Pose [LAP] and a location that seems to have been here forever and still attracts hordes as a magnificent creation, AM Radio’s The Wheat Field.

OK, think I have filled the remit and I look forward to seeing everyone else’s.
