Sam Goes Shopping... learns to read

This is a tale of two very chic stores. MiaMai & Baiastice and one clueless avi who doesn't read carefully! I looked at the new MiaMai Black Label designs. Totally awesome, but wasn't sure what would suit. Then I saw the Chod collection and immediately bought what I thought was a nice strapless dress. WRONG! It was the Dakini Rosed pants! Hence the first shot. They're amazing pants, but left me a little bare...

So I thought.. why not match the tops from 2 of the new and lovely Baiastice dresses. First up is the Liksye dress in rose, which was a very subtle match I thought. Jewelry is the paper couture Riverstone set.
Then I thought well the black texture and white sparkles of the Baiastice Zoey in red might make a nice foil for the MiaMai Dakini pants in Rose. Earrings are paper couture Faceted Black Diamond Arrangement. The little cuff on the neckline precluded wearing a necklace. On the right is the Zoey dress on her own worn with Pixel Mode Baby T's in black.

Then, having shown the BaiasticeLiksye dress with the Dakini pants I felt it deserved to be shown on it's own. It comes with the back draped necklace. My earring are Muse Elle Orchid [NA]. Shoes are again Pixel Mode Baby T's in berry.

My skin in all shots is Liane Natural from Adam n Eve [R] with part of sachi's Christmas pressie to me, maples lips. [R] Hair is elikatira Breathe in Blonde 02.

52 FIRE BRICK and 52 BRICK RED

Arrrgh...behind again:) Fire Brick took a bit of a search, but Brick Red fell into my lap thanks to the new Paper couture collection.

FIRE BRICK started with the top of the Lune Chic Sweater Dress from MG Fashion in brick and continued with MichaMi's cropped and slouchy pants in black [R] and Naith Smit's Rock'n'Rolla Uggs [NA] Other items are elikatira Details in White 03 and sachi's beautiful Liane Natural with Pinkade eyeshadow from Adam n Eve [R] Picture was taken at the wonderful Mother Road sim.

BRICK RED was mine with the new Dark Rain gown from Paper Couture. Hair is Truth's Eden in Copper. Still wearing Liane from sachi [R] . Jewelry is new from MOOD; the Cae earrings and the Parade Pearl Statement Ring [R] .

Poses are the female blogger ones from [LAP]

Hopefully that's it for BRICK.

All Eyes on Rosalie:)

This could also be 52 Black 2 ;) In any case sachi Vixen has released a new, very lovely goth skin named Rosalie. [R] Just one tone, but many lip colors and then the eye makeup tattoos. I'm wearing "Mystic." There is a design for everyone, but this one just seemed to suit Sam. This is a skin and eye makeup combination that you should try for yourself. The skin shading is very elegant, yet definite. And the tone responds well to different lighting, going from the palest goth you could want to a slightly creamy look, which is showing in these pictures.

52 EMERALD + New from IVALDE

Granted this is on the darker side of Emerald, but the shoot I planned was a disaster, sooooo...

Instead I celebrate Neferia Abel's large new release for her couture line, L'Abel. I'm wearing the Tyra dress in "emerald." [R] The textures on this dress, from the delicate smocking around the waist to the longer underskirt is both elegant and well done. This is just one of the new releases. I'll show you more tomorrow.

Details:
Hair: Aurora hair 01 [tinted red]
Skin: Adam & Eve Taylor Natural Blush
Jewels: Paper Couture
Shoes: Tuli from Shiny Things

A Gift

Samara Barzane is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met inworld, and I don’t mean her avi looks- although she is beautiful. Last week she insisted I went over to check out Paper Couture's new 2010 autumn collection. I was reluctant but Sam is, if nothing else, very persuasive and very difficult to say ‘no’ to. We played Linden Dollar ping pong for a while until she insisted that I buy something as an early birthday present. What could I say but OK.

I have bought PC in the past few years and love their unique creativity in clothes design. However, on a couple of occasions I have been a little disappointed in their execution of the clothes. So, after I bought both Red Skies and Shell Stitched Linen gowns I quickly tried them on. I haven’t blogged Red Skies as I was unhappy with the quality of the clothes making. With the Shell Stitched Linen gown I was delighted with the design and quality of creation BUT no glitch pants were included with the gown. Now, I never go knickerless inworld so I rummaged for suitable under garments that would not show below this incredible skirt. Is this just a mishap by PC or laziness or on purpose…whatever I feel it should be my choice if I decide to go without underwear and feel an inworld skirt is incomplete without its glitch pants.

On the plus side, what an incredible gown. A tube corset top sits on a short system skirt that is hidden by a double layer of linen. The skirt is shorter at the front and cascades to its full length creating a lovely frame for the legs. I love it.

The rest of what I am wearing can be found below.

Thank you Sam for a beautiful present x

Jori Times Two

Today I'm blogging 2 items named for Jori Watler. If you know Jori, as I do, you know that it would be impossible for her energy and moxie to be contained in a single outfit, so here we go!

The first is a delightful cardigan, designed to mix and match with other 5th&Oxford goodies designed by the uber-talented Roslin Petion, but it mixes and matches nicely with the rest of your pixel wardrobe. I'm wearing it in with my favorite Narwhal pants in Egg Blue. Tucked underneath is the Simple Shimmer Tank in Lemon from *Cupcakes. Shoes are the Jane Wedges in Tan from Shiny Things. I'm wearing L.Fauna's Lapine skin in Pale 2. The makeup is the group gift one, Faberge. Hair is an old Truth called Lucy in whatever he was calling that color back then.

Jori, by MichaMi was made at Jori's request. It is a very simple dress, yet complexly constructed with the sculpty top and skirt. Several sizes of each are included and they are mod. The textures and interior shadows are very well done. The dress comes in a range of colors, both muted and bright, but for me the yellow is the prettiest :) I'm wearing it with ETD Heels Strap in Sunshine. [BTW ETD now seems to be closed]. Earrings are from Paper Couture and the hair is City Life in Red Spice from FuseMelon. I know the skin is PXL Creations, probably Kim in Natural with wine lips.

Morea Style Meets /GEEZ/

One of the benefits of working at the RFL Clothing Fair is meeting and interacting with so many wonderful SL creators. In the case of morea Decosta my introduction came because I was pressed into service to translate for her because the Fair management needed someone to explain things in her native French. I really didn't do that much, but morea gifted me with the beautiful dresses I am sharing with you today.

First up is Collection MOREA STYLE CITY *CORALIE pearl*. The textures and drape of the shimmering fabric are a delight both in motion and standing still. Part of the style is the slightly shorter front. The G Field Ribbon Slingbacks in Salmon [minus the bows] matched perfectly. I hope that I am not alone in thinking that Cerberus Noel's shoes would be worth it at twice the tiny price of L$180. My necklace and earrings are older ones from Paper Couture; the Diamond Bow earrings and the Diamond Bee Necklace. My hair is Nantes in Copper from Tiny Bird. Skin is PXL Creations Kim SpringRose in Natural.

Next is Collection MOREA STYLE * VICTORIA CHAMPAGNE*. This dress is a stunner from the shimmering textures to the gold "sunburst fan" that encloses the upper body. Included are carefully detailed glitch pants with matching trim, gloves and a glorious gold bow. Again the textures and movement are luscious. My jewels are again Paper Couture--this time their Faceted Golden Sapphire Dangle earrings. Obviously no necklace is needed with the golden sunburst. Truth's Cameron in Copper provides an elegant foil, while PXL Creations July SpringPassion in Natural adds a note of polish to the outfit.

All poses are from Grazia Horwitz's new store, /GEEZ/ which will open after the Pose Fair. The poses will be available starting tomorrow at that fair.

Chalice's Challenge

I started this challenge given to us by Chalice Carling, by looking for separates, but had a shortage of suitable skirts. So, since I own absolutely zero wedding dresses [outlawed from the challenge anyway], I looked through my Last Call outfits for something appropriate and found 2.

The first is Kerry, one of my earliest full-price Last Call purchases. While it comes with a necklace, I opted for the paper couture Sparkling Spheres set from their 2010 collection. Shoes are ETD's D'Orsay stilettos in Nude, hair is Cameron in Copper from Truth and skin is PXL Creations July NAT SpringWine MEB. I think this would be suitable for an afternoon church wedding.

This dress would be for a beach wedding I think, perhaps with a stole that I don't own. Sofia is the dress, also from Last Call. My necklace is Poseidon in Rose from (luc) Fashion Jewelry. Everything else remains the same. I wish I could have met the challenge more creatively, but this is what my inventory had. And getting married in Last Call would be far from shabby.

Tussi from Mimikri

I have to be honest and say that, after an early fascination with the creations from Mimikri, I became less interested. But with Tussi I'm back:) What I love the most is the semi sheer system skirt with the prim overlay. There are three plays on "diamond" here, system, prim diamond shapes reflecting the system skirt and then the actual "diamonds." It comes in many colors, but I chose Sand as I think it reveal some of the subtleties of the design.

Other items worn:
Fishnets in Pearl from *blowpop*
Heel Strap Platforms in Linen from ETD
PXL Creations July NAT SpringRose MEB
Sparkling Spheres Stud earrings from Paper Couture
The Knife in Caramel from Tiny Bird
Poses are from Reel Expression

Whippet & Buck go p.c.

Much of this week's buzz has been about the new Spring Collection at paper couture, but another event has taken place which should please those of us with more classic tastes. I am speaking of the formal opening of Whippet & Buck. Bits and pieces have been available previously, but it wasn't until recently that the spring/summer line has been shown together.

In honor of BOTH events I hereby offer a Whippet & Buck/paper couture mash-up.

My dress is the Bardot Tube Dress in Bordeaux. It's a lovely strapless sheath dress with a warm plaid pattern. I will show it soon in other guises, but here it holds its own beautifully with several paper couture accessories.

I'm wearing the belt from p.c.'s older dress, "Falling Leaves" and the new Carnelian Necklace and earrings set that pick up the orange in the dress beautifully. Shoes are my trusty ETD Heel Strap Platforms in Persimmon, my hair is Loraine 2 in Auburn, also from ETD. Skin is Fleur Shoujo #4 in Azalea. My eyes are Spanish Moss from Poetic Colors and eyelashes are the Deviant Nation ones from Celestal Studios.

Poses are from AnaLu *Fresh Poses*

Two Friday Mashups!

I started this post Tuesday and the title, "Two Tuesday Mashups," was better than this one, but life conspired. It's Friday and that will have to do.

In the first one I am wearing my first Skin Flicks outfit, the Georgette Blouse and slacks. To complement the orange and rust of the blouse I am wearing ETD's Camille in Auburn Burnt and Elika's Kristin booties in Spice. I've yet to find a color that I don't like these boots in.My Fleur Allure skin is Exotique 3 in Truffle. Jewelry is Lucas Lameth's Feuille Naturelle in Silver & Forest.

In the second mashup I am wearing all of Dani's Fine Fashion's Plaid Retro Dress *except* the belt and skirt. The scrunched up legging bottoms are pretty nice:) Earrings are Coccoon's Cradle, skin is Celestial Studios Deviant Nation Vamp-Beguile in Champagne. Hair is the old ETD Couture, The Knot, with Left Swept Bangs. Since the couture colors were specific to that line, I tinted the bangs in Elika's Brown to make the match. Shoes are my ever-faithful Heel Strap Platforms from ETD. If the Lindens evere were to say, "you have to move to a new grid and you can only take one pair of shoes with you," these would be it ;)

Here endeth the Friday mashups :)

A Little of This and That :)

First, a big thank you to Sasy Scarborough for starting Second Life Bloggers of Fashion. It's nice to have a place to share our blog shots, especially since not all of us are on the main feed.

Second, a look I threw together after visiting the Tableau sim, which may still be in the throes of its festival to placate the angry gods. St Ingrid seems to be involved in some way :) I arrived wearing an outfit I'll blog later, but came across this Purple Western top at Nylon Outfitters.

Somehow I neglected to take a picture of the back, which has the same pretty yoke pattern as the front. One thing I REALLY like about this top is that the bottom ruffle is not a prim that you can't get right at any cost, but is on the skirt layer so doesn't get tossed around by your AO.

From top to bottom the rest of the outfit is:
Janis from Diversity Hair in Ginger Red
Rose #2 in buff from Fleur Skins
Diamond Bee necklace and diamond Bow earrings from Paper Couture
Men's Ivory Wash Jeans from VG Republic [I like the higher waist of men's jeans]
Hampton Wedges in Tyrian Purple from ETD

Third, just a word about my photos. I seldom use the atmospheric shaders in Windlight, but always the basic shaders. I sometimes up the brightness and contrast a little to get a touch of glow back in, but other than cropping and touching up a stray pixel here and there I don't photoshop. I will, on occasion, flip an image horizontally for compositional reasons, as I did with the left hand image in this post. I realize that can be confusing to those who look carefully, but with the time I have available to blog, sometimes it happens. I do use the Photosphere.

Sam's "Inner Critter"

I got a blue fox a while back to keep my late friend , Artistic Fimicoloud company, but never really warmed to the head shape or the color. Then, after her death, as I was searching for my "inner critter," as Sunweaver Chieftess, Rita Mariner put it, I came across Cheetah Kitty's Cheetah avatar at Lost Furest and fell in love. My first one was pink for Relay for Life. This is just a quick outfit I tossed together from an old freebie and a Bossa Nova shrug, also free way back when. Hair is ETD Emily in pink burnt.

Of course furry avatars have different dressing issues than human ones, but at least the feet are taken care of *mews*. The cheetah head needs little adjustment for hair fortunately. [The fox was a serious PITA]. Just back a bit and move a couple of strands for Emily.

When I was looking for a black and white cheetah for an event at Club Cutlass [at Buccaneer Bay] I had a very "blonde" moment and couldn't find it again, so I got the Arctic Fox pictured below. I'm wearing a Last Call design, La Muse. Again Emily from ETD in white burnt. I'm also wearing the Paper Couture River Stone necklace, [earrings are an issue for furries] and the mid-length Grey Gloves from Fleur. I didn't win the contest, but it was a lot of fun dressing this avi.

As I stated I originally bought a furry avi to match Artistic, but now that I've found my "inner critter," look for me on the grid as I'll be a FUR from time to time.
Furrily yours,
Sam [don't call me "hun" ] Barzane
