52 APRICOT erm MELON

Since I blogged Apricot for Melon, I should have no scruples about blogging Melon for Apricot--except that I'm stealing Fury's dress ;) I might note that the image was uploaded to Flickr on June 11, but that wouldn't be nice ;)

Yep it's Nomine's Milkmaid Dress in *coughs* Melon. Other items are Miel's Pez necklace, Hyasynths in Black from Shiny Things, Dany from Adam n Eve, and hair by Clawtooth

High-tech honey!

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post again. The good news is I finally got myself a new computer. The bad news, I can't take pictures with shadows on Phoenix - the result after trying is just a blank, or rather black, image. Tough luck. Maybe one day I'll have the patience to try the V2 viewer.

In the last few months, I've started a major inventory cleanup operation
during my scarce SL time. I'm not really going to blog about that because there's enough tutorials on the topic - I'm essentially following the same steps as Harlow Heslop, perhaps with small variations. I started out with a nearly 40k inventory, which is now almost down to 30k, but that figure means I still have tons of work to do.

What's the point in me mentioning it, then? Well, the best thing about inventory cleanup is that one gets to discover real gems hidden in unpacked boxes, long-lost folders, etc. And what I'd like to blog about is one of those: the Raider dress from Miel (which means honey in Spanish). It sneaked into my inventory as a group gift when I touched their subscribo at some point, probably on the visit in which I got demos of pretty much everything they sell - and then never remembered to try them on, because I lost said demos in the chaos of my inventory. Anyway, the demos are now neatly packed in my "Demos" folder, and their dress makes a pretty good visiting card:

It comes in the six colours you can see above (left to right: nero, lime, gold, sky, coco and cranberry), both in solid and striped versions. In the picture I'm wearing the solid versions, except for nero, which is striped. All layer options are included, plus three sculpted parts: top, belt and skirt. The prims have a resize script that makes it really easy to fit to perfection (no zero-size bottom was needed in my case) and the colour changes are also controlled via script - which makes the dress a wonder of technology, as you only need to click once for all the different parts to change. Very practical.

Such a dress really deserved a proper set of shoes, so I went on a trip to the Shoe Fair 2011 for the occasion. I'll blog about my finds some time soon - for now, this is the list of what I got:
Maitreya Gold: Foxy in Pearl (worn with nero)
Baiastice: Maxine wedges in Sylver (with lime and sky) -Fair exclusive-
N-core: SOLEIL in Coffee (with gold and coco)
[Decoy]: Naucci Heels in Blue (paired with cranberry)

To finish off, I just added bangles to accessorise. Left to right:

TDR special Bangle I
Zaara : Melange bangles L (green)
RH Engel Jewelry - Sahara Collection - Tigers Eye Bangle
Zaara : Melange bangles L (blue)
ZC : Indra painted stacked bangles *gold* R

Hair in all cases is Truth's new-ish Phoebie (cranberry), skin is Belleza's Erika (group gift) and eyes are the Golden Green of Amacci's Real Eyes collection. Yes, I'm still looking for new eyes.

Bustle Me!

Not being inworld much at the moment has curtailed my shopping habit. So for this post I have resorted to trawling the depths of my inventory.

I have a penchant for bustles and as such was delighted to rediscover this cute, wonderful dress from Miel…the Oh Leafy Dress. A simple tulip top, with or without shoulder vine/leaf detail, compliments a sculpty mini skirt beautifully. The skirt is a work of art. From the front it appears to have a leafy underskirt or hem. However, the star is the back of the skirt: a mini, layered bustle. Fabric layered with net layered with leaves. Beautiful! The leafy motif is echoed across the dress itself as a print. Clever, well designed and executed piece of clothing.

I kept the rest simple. N-Core Temptation shoes in black, a PXL Grace natural skin and Fri.day’s Anna hair in scornful red.

Hmmm, maybe not so simple, I added Zaara’s new Kashiti bobble ring and ellabella’s Pearls A’bloom bindi for a touch of glamour.

All shots were taken leaning against Voodoo Shilton’s wall at his music instrument shop…killer wallpaper and a bored moment work wonders…lol.

Snuggling in for the winter...

It's getting d**n cold here now, and even with the sun out, the brisk wind is a not so gentle reminder of what's to come. So I've been wandering around my beach house wearing legwarmers LOL.

But it's all an excuse to wear Elinor from DCNY. I seldom shop there, but I fell for the colorful bird on the sweater and the fluttery and a bit ragged skirt. I would have preferred a prim belt to the one on the system layer, but that's a small beef. My earrings are Miel's 50 Linden Friday ones from yesterday, which are perfect with this cold season look. Stocking are Ajour in Mud from Mimikri. The big story are the legwarmers though. I tried everywhere. I had a friend ask on Fashion Emergency [a casualty of the 25 group limit], but finally I bought the ones at Ducknipple. But alas they didn't match, so I copied the right ankle prim and plopped it on my left ankle and edited. And yes, those are Stiletto Moody's Bitch Booties peeking out.

The main events are Truth's Cameron hair in Auburn. It's one of the most flattering styles for me in a long while. Same deal with the new N2 Elizabeth skin from the most generous, Annyka Bekkers. I'll show you more soon, but this is the Granny Apple 2.2, that is, the second makeup in Tone B. The light smattering of face freckles are a real delight.

I fell in love with Linnea from Angel Dessous on the feed. I struggled over the color in the store, but in the end the Beige won out because the sparkly parts on the belt and sleeve were more subtle and it reminded me of snow. It comes with the long socks, as well as many other variations on the neckline, including a hoodie version. Maitreya's Bloom boots in white came out of hiding to complete the look. Hair is fri.day's Allison in Scornful Red, skin is my new standby, Kim Spring Rose in Natural. My earrings are Ice Queen from Random Calliope, a present from my fellow blogger, Noena.
