That Old Voodoo Magic!

Something slightly different for this blog…I have a guest model and creator Voodoo Shilton, who is modelling both his new Sitar and what he is wearing.

Voodoo is a talented creator of anything he puts his mind to. In this case it was increasing the range of his musical instruments that he sells inworld. He has built a highly detailed sitar with both animations and music included.

The design, colour and textures are excellent. Care has been taken with the details, in the consideration of poses, animations .and has over 20 pieces of music that you can play.

For more details, on this instrument and others, and how to buy visit Voodoos shop inworld at
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rothenburg/196/198/47

Having twisted his rubber arm to pose for me Voodoo decided to stay in keeping with the sitar and wore International House of Style Kurta Pajama in Burgundy. A wonderful outfit with a tunic of embroidered burgundy lined with gold hem and collar. A gold sash flung over the shoulder and white trousers completes the look.

Styling:

Shape: Custom, Voodoo Shilton
Skin: *REDGRAVE* Tanned Skin 04 Emil
Hair: "Jau" by Analog Dog
Eyes: Custom, Voodoo Shilton
Clothes: India - Kurta Pajama, Burgundy by International House of Style
Sandals: from "Summer 09 Set - Beige" by Alphamale
Instrument: Sitar by Voodoo’s Instruments.

In Awe of PixelDolls

I was first introduced to PixelDolls by my friend [and fellow blogger], Fury, when I was looking to buy my first "good" dress. I ended up getting one from Simone, but have, since then, spent my share of time at Chartreuse and now, Port Seraphine. The styles haven't always suited me, but I have collected a few pieces over the past year and a half. I had also picked up a 2005 PD dress named Josette at a yard sale. which I blogged earlier.. So when the L$50 Dress Sale was announced I was there in a flash.

And, after several visits and a full exploration I realized that the history of PixelDolls was there, including some old PixelMuse items at L$10! The one that caught my attention was MetaLilly- Sunset, clearly a fantasy outfit, but rather wonderfully surprising. What look like leg attachments are, in fact a system skirt. And, no they don't disappear near transparent items. Nor do they need to be adjusted. The shoes are also appropriately vintage, prim shoes from Sylfie Minogue's Prim Seduction, the Essential Stilettos in Gold. The hair is Noel in honey from Analog Dog and this DOES have alpha issues. Just remember not to stand in front of a big window ;) My skin is Fleur Allure Kitten 3 in Truffle. As you can see from the gold design that spills off the top and pants onto the body, no jewelry was needed.

Once I realized I was looking at history I turned my attention to the earlier system skirts and liked what I saw. I DID get Josette in a second color, but I'm showing you Amourette instead. between the pleated hem, the fill in on the bodice and the square plunging back, this dress is a good one for that evening out, when you don't want to drag primmage around. The textures are simple, but effectively done. I'm wearing ETD Heel Strap Platforms in Emerald, Analog Dog's Mia in Cherry and an old LC Covet necklace, Arinne, that is no longer available. Fleur Allure Winter Nights 3 in Truffle finishes the outfit.

The PixelDolls sale is a "don't miss", if only to acquire some pieces of SL(tm) fashion history.

You can't have...

...too many scarves! Well maybe you can, but try to stop me!

On the right is the Border Fringe Stole in pink from Massimo! The layering on the fringes is exceptional. I'd have to say that it's my favorite scarf I've found so far! It comes in two attachment points and 2 sizes.

The other two are from Aoharu and show how effectively what look like brushstrokes are able to create a light chiffon look. The center green one is the Bubble Scarf. On the left is the Chiffon Scarf in purple. The textures are very different between the Massimo and Aoharu scarves, but both are delightful to wear and easy to look at.

The rest of my outfit is meant as a base for the colorful scarves, but here are the details anyway :) The sweater is the Campy Cable in Coal from Ki2, Michami's cigarette pants from the Joanie outfit in black and the belt is the pouch belt in black from Shiny Things. Hair on the right is Mia from Analog Dog and on the left Dana, from Zer0 Style. Skin is Fleur Allure Fall in Love 1 in Truffle.

Unaccustomed as I am ...

... to wearing hair or skin from anyone other than ETD or Fleur, I'm doing so for today's mashup.

It started with the hair from Analog Dog. It's the first short style I've seen from then that I really like, although I actually had to stretch it to make the hairline work for me. [Usually their hair swallows me whole.] The style is Mia and I'm wearing it in Cherry I think. [I'm one of those whose login is currently blocked for inventory maintenance. Now if I could just get them to organize it for me LOL]

As did half the grid I think, I wandered over to the Aoharu sale. Did some serious damage in shoes, looked at the clothes and they still weren't for me. But I'd never looked at their skins before so off I trotted down the sim to Aoharu2. I fell for Lisa Pinky Eye for its eyeshadow and blush. The body detail isn't super, but then that face did me in. And at half-price why not?

Rest of the mashup is the Trixie cami in Wisteria from Celestial Studios, Violet Voltaire's No Love Lost necklace, Michami's cigarette pants from the Joanie outfit in black and without their delicious prim cuffs. The cuffs from the pants conflicted with my orginal boots so I just made myself some matching socks. Shoes are Maitreya's Mishima Dawn in Puce, while the belt is the pouch belt in black from Shiny Things.
