The Sunday Blog-a-thon--Michami Mash

This post includes two mashups that include at least one Michami item :) I'd make you guess, but then it would be a short post ;) And you will also see how bad a blogger I have been.

The first outfit was made to show off the Fleur Vain Valentine Hunt skin that is no longer available :( I'm wearing it in Allure's darkest tone, sable, to show off the sparkles. My slacks are Ibizarre Basic Red Sequin Pants. I'm not sure if they are still available or not as I picked up the fatpack at her amazing sale a while back. Shoes are Aoharu's Jeweled High Heels in Red. And ............ yup the top is Michami's Laila in Cream. I'm not sure which bra I am wearing underneath, but you can see the lace peeking in any case. Hair is Truth's Elizabeth 2 in ... ummm I'm not exactly sure, probably Carrot.

My second mashup began with another goodie from the Vain Hunt from Ibizarre. I'm just wearing the Siv Sequin Dress in Copper and the wonderful black scarf, which I want in many, many colors. I hope Anyusha is listening! My heels are Moody's Elegant Slingback in Rose Gold. In this case I like the red soles peeking out. And ............... which is from Michami? Can you guess ?

Hair is Truth's Elizabeth 2 in Auburn. The skin is the Limited Release Fleur Allure Valentine Red skin in Truffle.

Still can't guess? Ok my leggings are from Michami's Glitter Tube & Leggings in Black.

Poses are from my old pose ball and include ones from [LAP], the dreaded *MM* poses, some of Ana Lutetia's early poses and heaven knows what else!

A Fleur by any other name.

Is still a Fleur even if I am late to the party. I've had this image ready to blog for a bit, but what with my winding down my work at Fleur and closing down my translations agency the lovely Fleurs slipped through the cracks in the pixelated ether.

What I am wearing is the result of a collaboration between Fleur and ~silent sparrow~ --hyasynth's dress is named "Fleur" and the Fleur Allure China skin is called "L'Oiseau." in honor of hya's twittery birdie-ness. I'm wearing Fleur in Violet without the modesty tummy panel. The beautiful tattoo is included. Hair is Scarlet from Truth.

You can't "shrug" this one off ;)

hyasynth Tiramisu makes glorious outfits, but she also makes wonderful smaller things, among them the Grimly skirts, her cardigans and now, Shruggie.

Shruggie comes in some wonderful colors [I'm wearing it in Creme] and has nice primmy bits, but I left them off as they didn't look quite right with the rest of the outfit. Besides this way you see how wonderful hya's textures are on the system layer. Shruggie comes in the jacket and shirt layer, which is VERY helpful as the top of the eLDee Kiki pants is on the jacket layer. I'm wearing Celestial Studio's Trixie cami in Rouge on the undershirt layer. Shoes are the Tesla Marie in Red & Tan. I think they pick up the colors in the outfit nicely:)

Hair is Ivy from Truth in Carrot and my skin is Fleur Allure Lounge 2 in Truffle. Earrings are an old group freebie from SLink. Poses are mostly by {flowey}

Don't "shrug" this one off -- you'll find many uses for these little wonders from the hands of hya :)

Walk Like an Egyptian

I was one of the lucky bloggers invited to preview the Egyptian-themed Kings Rezzable before its opening. We were treated to a dazzling fashion show, displaying the clothing made especially for this project.

After applauding wildly at the end of the show, we were able to shop the vendors. Goodies are available at many price points, from as little as L$200 to L$1500 and up. Since my spending is currently on a diet, I purchased from the lower end, but never fear! The Mereret dress by Blue Blood is a lovely fluffy bit of Egyptiana. I also couldn't resist the Inorite Cleo Bob in Rust with its gold tiara.

The Mereret outfit includes shoes and jewelry for L$400. There was also an interesting headpiece, but it didn't work with the tiara so I left it off.

For those of you who missed the show, here are a few pictures of the stunning build and a few of the outfits. The models walked down the rays of the sun. There are many items for men too, so this is a show for everyone:) Thanks again to Voshie Paine of Nocturne Modeling for the invite, to the Nocturne models and to Rezzable for bringing us another wonderful show.

REaDy or Not!

I've had the Helena outfit from PixelDolls ready to go for a while, but when the Sarah Red Swing Dress from Lost Dreams crossed my radar I had a title and a post! The Helena outfit comes in several colors, but I found the red rich enough to support the simple shape. The puffy sleeves and skirt are prims on a system base. I love the off-the-shoulder elegant sexiness. My hair is ETD Patootie in Auburn Burnt, stockings are Shiny Things freebie thigh-highs, still available in the store in this and many other colors. Those are the Stiletto Moody Gladiator Sandals in Black. Jewelry is Violet Voltaire's Love Like Blood in Blood, perfect match for the helena dress. My skin is, alas for you, my holiday present from my bosses at Fleur, a custom Shojo in Azalea.

One of the most interesting thing about the Sarah dress is that the skirt is a single bell prim. This is the second time I've run into this design choice and, while it can look silly while dancing, it is rather nice, and in this case, matches the design nicely. There is a front section of prims for the pleats, which fall nicely from the waistband and the deep V neck. I fell in love with the dress for the fabric pattern, nicely detailed and, again rich looking. I'm wearing (Miriel) Limited Edition Heart Necklace - Gold with the dress, a necklace made for The Heart of Love fundraiser just completed. Shoes are Tesla's Marie in red/tan. They pick up the dress colors nicely I think. Hair is my standby, ETD's Patricia in Auburn Burnt. I'm wearing [and loving!] Fleur's Allure Smokin' 3 in Truffle. Smokin' is currently on sale at Fleur for 50% off until Friday.

With these two outfits in your wardrobe, yes you are ready to wear RED!

Anytime...

This week we're featuring the Allure Exotique skin at Fleur [now on 50% off sale for a week] and I COULD say my blogpost title is because I could wear Exotique "anytime." But that's not the case.

In a feeble [and totally failed] attempt to clean out my inventory I realized that I had a large number of Last Call items, which, after purchasing both before and during the final sale, I don't wear:( So, since they are available from time to time in yard sales, I thought I'd start blogging some of them.

"Anytime" is one of the first Last Call dresses that I bought. It's a beautifully textured babydoll dress with a beautifully moving skirt and amazingly well-matched pants layer. Even when my hip pokes through it looks fine. Ginny was a genius and is sorely missed.
BUT it's where I am, so I paired it with the black turtleneck from the Tres Blah! Mod outfit, the cigarette pants from Michami's Joanie on the underwear later, minus their primmy bits and with black socks of my making, as well as Kookie's Phoebe shoes in black. Hair is Lily from Truth in whatever color they are calling "pumpkin" now.

Skin is, of course, Fleur Exotique 3 in Truffle.

Mixedup Wednesday!

I'm not sure where this outfit started. I THINK I was already wearing the PixelDolls jeans in Ash picked up at the PD sale. Then I added the subscribe-o Valentine gift sweater from Church of Luxe in red with the adorable heart pattern and back cutout. Next came my favorite Artilleri Funky Scarf/Cherries. It was the first scarf I bought in SL(tm) and I keep going back to it. I covered my middle with homemade undies in black. I figure if I'm wearing a scarf my middle needed covering.

Shoes are Sling Pumps "CHAINED" in Night from MB-CreationZ, a creator I found courtesy of Ana Lutetia's plurk. I'm also wearing Violet Voltaire's Cameo Butterfly Earrings in Olive, the OTK Fair Isle socks from Fleur in Gray and Truth's Lily in Auburn. Skin is one of my favorite Fleur Allures, Smudged 2 in Truffle.

In Awe of PixelDolls

I was first introduced to PixelDolls by my friend [and fellow blogger], Fury, when I was looking to buy my first "good" dress. I ended up getting one from Simone, but have, since then, spent my share of time at Chartreuse and now, Port Seraphine. The styles haven't always suited me, but I have collected a few pieces over the past year and a half. I had also picked up a 2005 PD dress named Josette at a yard sale. which I blogged earlier.. So when the L$50 Dress Sale was announced I was there in a flash.

And, after several visits and a full exploration I realized that the history of PixelDolls was there, including some old PixelMuse items at L$10! The one that caught my attention was MetaLilly- Sunset, clearly a fantasy outfit, but rather wonderfully surprising. What look like leg attachments are, in fact a system skirt. And, no they don't disappear near transparent items. Nor do they need to be adjusted. The shoes are also appropriately vintage, prim shoes from Sylfie Minogue's Prim Seduction, the Essential Stilettos in Gold. The hair is Noel in honey from Analog Dog and this DOES have alpha issues. Just remember not to stand in front of a big window ;) My skin is Fleur Allure Kitten 3 in Truffle. As you can see from the gold design that spills off the top and pants onto the body, no jewelry was needed.

Once I realized I was looking at history I turned my attention to the earlier system skirts and liked what I saw. I DID get Josette in a second color, but I'm showing you Amourette instead. between the pleated hem, the fill in on the bodice and the square plunging back, this dress is a good one for that evening out, when you don't want to drag primmage around. The textures are simple, but effectively done. I'm wearing ETD Heel Strap Platforms in Emerald, Analog Dog's Mia in Cherry and an old LC Covet necklace, Arinne, that is no longer available. Fleur Allure Winter Nights 3 in Truffle finishes the outfit.

The PixelDolls sale is a "don't miss", if only to acquire some pieces of SL(tm) fashion history.

Mondrian anyone?

I had seen some pictures of Dani Harrop's clothes that made me think of the Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian, so when I tp-ed over to Dani's Fashions I was looking out for them. She does have a dress that is echt-Mondrian, but I fell for the Retro Plaid dress that I am wearing. For a most reasonable price you get the dress, leggings, belt and sculpty leggings, collar and sleeves.

I decided not to wear the belt as they never look right on me, but the outfit stands nicely without it. One interesting design feature is the skirt, which is 2 prims, non-flexi and I have to say it works nicely. I have always been bothered by clothes that fly into pieces as soon as you walk. I mean, who has seen a flexi trench coat for example ?

Also worn: Richelieux Leathershoes in brown from Polina Kaestner, Raven earrings from Second Mirage, Luth hair in auburn burnt from ETD and, last, but not least, Fleur's Allure Kitten 1 in truffle, appropriately retro for the dress.

You can't have...

...too many scarves! Well maybe you can, but try to stop me!

On the right is the Border Fringe Stole in pink from Massimo! The layering on the fringes is exceptional. I'd have to say that it's my favorite scarf I've found so far! It comes in two attachment points and 2 sizes.

The other two are from Aoharu and show how effectively what look like brushstrokes are able to create a light chiffon look. The center green one is the Bubble Scarf. On the left is the Chiffon Scarf in purple. The textures are very different between the Massimo and Aoharu scarves, but both are delightful to wear and easy to look at.

The rest of my outfit is meant as a base for the colorful scarves, but here are the details anyway :) The sweater is the Campy Cable in Coal from Ki2, Michami's cigarette pants from the Joanie outfit in black and the belt is the pouch belt in black from Shiny Things. Hair on the right is Mia from Analog Dog and on the left Dana, from Zer0 Style. Skin is Fleur Allure Fall in Love 1 in Truffle.

Naughty Sam!

Well not as *naughty* as Fury's last post, but for me to buy a pair of Stiletto Moody's shoes was very naughty, even though they were purchased at the members 40% sale.

They are still expensive at that price, but I thought it was time to see what the fuss was about. I know the issue concerning pricing and the subcontracted work and they concern me. Also many of their styles are not to my taste. But I've lusted after the Pinup Pump in Grey Patent Python, so I fell.

The options and update system are nice. I like that you can change the chain color, or hide it altogether if you wish.

To support my "naughtiness" I am wearing the Christmas "Naughty" t-shirt from LOOKR. My skirt is the Fishnet Fairy from Curious Kitties and my hair, also from CK, is Lxei, one of the Nyanotech styles that comes with a HUD to change the color, although you can also do it by just clicking the hair itself. Skin is Fleur's new Biba 1 in Truffle, fishnet tights are probably from Celestial Studios, an old group gift, but are readily available in many shops.

So was it worth being "naughty?" You be the judge!

The Gloves Have It!

Since I cannot enter the Fleur Gloves Flickr Contest myself, you get a gloves blog today:)

Both pairs are from the new Brights Pack, now available at the Fleur sim in The Clothing Store. and both lovely dresses were gifts:)

First I am wearing Callie Cline's Citron Lane dress in Crimson with our crimson gloves. My dress was a Christmas present from a good friend <3. I really like the system skirt with the prim bustle and train. So many long formals swallow me whole. This one doesn't.

Shoes look like ETD's D'Orsay stilettos in black. Hair is Heather in auburn burnt, also ETD, bought at the super sale that runs through the 9th. I'm pretty sure my skin is Fleur Allure Lounge 2 in Truffle. Jewelry is Alienbear's Teardrop Pearls in black.

SySy Chapman was kind enough to give the ladies free formals for the party that closed down The Big Apple sim just before New Year's. I found the black one really perfect for my shape. I'm wearing it with the Fleur Long Gloves in Saffron, along with the Alienbear Teardrop Pearls in yellow. Skin is the same. Hair is ETD's Patricia in auburn burnt and you can't see my feet:)

And I'm looking forward to help choosing the winners in the Fleur contest!

Cajsa's "Dress Me Up" Challenge reaches the Zenith!

Cajsa Lilliehook challenged me as follows: "I thought I might suggest something neko from Zenith, with some Betty Page Voyager hair." Hm there's a theme here. Two of my four challenges wanted to see Sam neko/grunge. Folks I'm not really that square :) In fact the ears and tail came from my inventory.

So off I trotted to Zenith where I found The Black Sexy Cloths set. The multiple pieces fit nicely, but I had to kill the bling coming from the ribbons. There I do draw the line. The tattoo is also from Zenith, their butterfly one. I have to admit I'd taken the photos wearing the Lxei Nyanotech hair from Curious Kitties [also in my inventory] before I remembered that she had said Betty Page Voyager. So I dutifully trotted off, but couldn't find anything that I liked as well as the Lxei for the style. So here's my response to your challenge Cajsa :)

My skin is Fleur Allure Biba 1 in Truffle. My torn fishnet stockings and fishnet gloves are from *Sheer*. My boots are the New York ones from Digital Dragon. My ears are *Kyu-To Neko Ears Black and tail is Mikon Neko Tail - Black, all from Dirty Lynx.

It's a Touch of Dutch Challenge from Ana Lutetia

As part of Achariya's Dress Me Up Challenge Ana Lutetia suggested the following: "hmmm... what about Dutch Touch for a grunge look?"

Well I actually do have some Dutch Touch in my inventory, but not the real grunge stuff so I played fair and bought the Pippi outfit.

I remember seeing this on a friend during my first year on SL and wondered why anyone would wear something with holes in it LOL. I seem to have overcome my aversion here... The textures on the top are very nicely done and the cuffs on the pants are equally excellent. I had trouble finding the right boots in my inventory and ended up wearing my old standby, ETD Calf Boots in black.

I meant to wear a Dutch Touch skin, but I've been having trouble getting the new Fleur Allure Biba off my pixels. This is Biba 1 in Truffle. Hair is ETD Lisa in auburn burnt. Necklace is the Lovely Sorrow one from Curious Kitties.

So thanks to Ana Lutetia for getting me to go "holey."

The Stringer Mausoleum + Biba = Stunning!

Working at ETD and Fleur has its advantages, one of which is meeting avis who are wonderful content creators. This is the case with Fleur Insider, Helena Stringer, owner and creative impulse of The Stringer Mausoleum.

She was kind enough to drop her style, Wrapped, on me as an early holiday pressie and, while I normally don't wear hair that is almost as big as I am, this one is a honey :) I'm wearing it in crimson tipped with the included hairbow and snowflakes. Top is the Lookr "Naughty".

Skin is the about-to-be-released Fleur Allure Biba 1 in Truffle. Biba has transitioned gracefully from Vivant to Allure. The new Allure skin tones and body detailing make Biba work for me in way she never did as a Vivant makeup.

So after Helena dropped Wrapped on me I wandered over and ended up getting the Stargazer Eyelashes in the Colour Pack. They are seasonally outrageous LOL. You get 6 colo[u]rs for L$150 -- be sure to click on the picture to see how wonderful these are :) The skin is Fleur Allure Winter Nights 3. Hair is ETD's Luth in auburn burnt.

Ibizarre + Muism = Cozy Winter Outfit

I wanted to wear the Muism open cotton shirt with it's prim cuffs, but what to wear over it? My good friend, Fury Stapleton, asked if I had seen Ibizarre's "vests". I had gotten stuck at the other end of that wall mesmerized by the scarves and hadn't. So off I went. This is the Ibizarre Knit Pattern Tank in black. Look carefully to see the subtle pattern. My slacks are also from Ibizarre -- their soft black leather ones.

I am also wearing ETD's Luth in auburn burnt, (luc) Fashion Jewelry's Celest set with the metal set to black, and the Retrohoochie Pump in Black. I'm pretty sure my skin is Fleur Allure Lounge 2 in cinnamon.

Honesty is the Best Policy

I had a struggle about what to title this post. The other option was "Sam Goes to Muism and FINALLY Buys something," but the reason for the title will come clear shortly.

I was talking to Grazia Horwitz about how I didn't "get" Muism and would she take me over sometime and help me see the light. Well impatient avi that I am, I couldn't wait. I had some lindens burning a hole in my pxel pockets so off I went. I bought the Open Cotton Shirt and the Tartan Jacket, which I then paired with the old G.L.A.M. buttoned pants in gray and the Autumn scarf from Ibizarre. [OK so now I'm a scarf slut too--so sue me ;)] Hair is the new Prissy in Dark Copper, skin is Fleur Allure Lounge 3 in Cinnamon, shoes are DeLa's Stella in Beige.

Now for the honesty part. The scarf sticks out the back of the shirt's prim collar, so you either need to move the scarf waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay forward or wear, as I did, hair that covers it in the back. The scarf itself is no-mod so that's the only option. On the other hand it's a great look. Maybe I can talk Anyusha into making us some half scarves ;)

Soooooooooo... here's another set of shots without the collar and with the DeLa shoes in Sweet Chocolate. I am also wearing one of Curious Kitties Nyanotech hairstyles. These styles come with a HUD for changing color, although Neko 1, this red, is my favorite. The style is called Lxei.

Black is the new ..... Black

I'm beginning to think Grazia Horwitz and I are twins separated at birth as she just blogged some nice black dresses. If I hadn't been so sodding lazy I would have been first LOL

Below is another of the very creative dresses designed by ~*RunoRuno*~ named Hyperkinetic Dress in Black. Her work is so imaginative and very reasonably priced. This one is no exception. The textures and prim shapes are wonderful and it does move nicely! I'm wearing ETD's Tiana in auburn burnt, Fleur's Allure Lounge 2, in Truffle I think and the earrings from (luc) Fashion Jewelry's Celest set. Booties are the Kristen ones, on sale at ETD until December 26 for very little indeed along with the rest of the store.

Second I am wearing a nicely designed dress from Ibizarre named Edina. Be sure to check Ibizarre out as Anyusha Lillenthal has some wonderful new items, including some of the scarves I blogged yesterday. I like the black on gray of the large cowl collar and the waist area. It is a very chic look for a night on the town. Skin and earrings are the same as above, although the skintone may be cinnamon. The hair is Luth from ETD, which I just discovered while helping a customer at the store. It's in auburn burnt. Shoes are Maitreya's Mishima Dawn in Shiny/Suede black, a color unfortunately discontinued :(

My third "little black dress" is also from Ibizarre and is one of Anyusha Lilienthal's new releases for A Winter Fairy Tale beginning next month. It is called Paloma and I'm wearing it in "almost black," that is to say, Charcoal. The gold details and textures, including the belt are very well done. Jewelry is the Celest set again. I'm wearing the same skin and Luth in Sunny. Shoes are Maitreya's Free Black Slinky Stilettos in black.

So a few non-standard, but very wearable "little black dresses", thus making black ... well you get the idea ;)

Stella Redux

I just could resist another "take" on Michami's new Stella. I found the perfect shade in the Sn@tch scarf that changes textures, as well as in the Kitties Lair Anita shoes in brown. Switched to Tyra in Crimson. The rest remains the same :)

The Stella Challenge: The Case of the Missing Middle

I too, like Grazia, wondered about the "missing middle" in Michima's Stella and, I have to admit, I took the same route she did, tucking one of Milla's Gold Glam Tanks underneath the Stella in Beige.

I normally eschew prim cuffs as they tend to overload my small avi, but these just needed to be slid up slightly. What I am admiring more and more about the beauties coming from Michami is Milla's skill with system layers. The detail on the Stella jacket is outstanding, making you as well dressed from the back as well as the front.

I'm also wearing ETD's Tyra in Platinum Burnt, Lyra Muse's Eclectic in Larkspur and The Tease Peep Toe Pumps in Snake from Kitties Lair. My skin is Fleur ALLURE, of course. It is Lounge 3 in Truffle and I'm having a hard time getting it off my pixels.

So thanks again Grazia! I hope my "mash-up" pleases you all :)
